Writing Rx for 200 to 300 pills at a time not a good idea... Hope they throw him under a jail cell. He contributed to tons of addiction problems and exploitation of young dealers / addicts in Roane County. Rot in He##

Look he was wrong and there are far too many people on pain meds that could find other ways to cope, but they want their fix! These Docs are just DEALERS with a Medical License.

WOW This story happned last year 2010.it is over with,we are in the year 2011 now, when you have chronic pain, back up with MRI REPORTS.EXRAYS,ECT,,,HE WAS CHARGED WITH SLOPPY papper work in 2001,they went back ten years to find eney thing they could use,,he spent hours fighting the ins companys denying coverage,4 the sick and injuryed,i was one of the 1,500 people left with out a doctor, and i had to drive to cookevile to thear pain center to recive ,some help because all of the place,s in knoxville are fulled up with a very long wateing list,mr dewar is a great doctor, and is gulty of nothing,so you are a year to late and wrong about mr doctor dewar,.....he should have fought the charges ,,,then retireing,,thear are maney that are still trying to find a doctor, and others that have passed away from the lack of haveing the meds,,,,,

There are many doctors that are getting charged with things that are questionable. They should not get charged with someone overdosing...if they prescribe a medication to be taken a certain way and the person chooses not to take it the way prescribed it is NOT the doctors fault. People think that 200 pills a month is too much when actually it is the NORMAL amount that should be prescribed. The average half-life of oxycodone is 3 1/2 hours. That means it only lasts an average of 3-4 hours. It doesn't matter what strength it is, 10mg, 15, 20 or 30mg, if it doesn't have a timed release coating on it like oxycontin then it is that same no matter what the dose. That means if it is prescribed to be taken every 4 hours that is 6/day..180/month for a 30 day supply. Now 3 1/2 hours is the average. There are going to be people that metabolize it faster and some that metabolize it slower. People hear 200 pills and they think it's too much when in reality it is the standard dosing when taken every 4 hours. The only thing the doctors should be responsible for is if they are not monitoring their patients properly with drug screens and pill counts while also watching for aberrant behavior. It's easy to blame the person prescribing, especially if you have no medical knowledge.

you can tell who the pill seeking addicts are posting on this thread, can't you? lolz. these pain center doctors are nothing more than drug dealers. 200 pills a month? seriously? so you addicts need 4 oxy's a day at minimum? let's be honest, that's what you're taking at a time... and then you go buy them from each other depending on who gets their scripts when....

makes me sick.

They all vary so much I really couldn't give an average. It ranges anywhere from $250-$500 for the first visit from what I've heard. I know here we are working hard to get insurance set up and going...it's just a long process of making sure we have all the paperwork that is required and then the state getting us set up as providers. Don't know why it has to be so difficult but that's our government for you :/

You obviously have no clue about how the drug works.
Yeah, I've been called a drug dealer before. Doesn't hurt my feelings any when I know my patients have a better quality of life. Makes me sick when people judge others so easily when they have no idea how the other person is suffering. I am not going to retype the entire post that you either didn't read, don't understand, or already have your mind made up to judge a person seeking pain management or the provider prescribing but here it is:

Let me add also that when a medication is underprescribed it can actually increase the patients pain between doses. If a person is prescribed 4/day, that's every six hours. Say the medication wears off after 4 hours, which is the norm, then they are left with 2 hours where the pain returns and more often than not becomes WORSE during that 2 hour period. Rebound pain is CAUSED by underprescribing. Before you judge you need to understand the mechanism of pain and the medication.
