We owe them everything. Simple and true. Without them, we would not have the lives we and our children now enjoy.

I find this to be a stupid question, but you could begin with Honor,Respect,Appreciation, you r freedom, your support, and most of all, your prayers for them and their families. Some veterans gave thir all for you, there is no way to repay that debt, especially to their families and loved ones. They are not here to see their kids grow up,have Grandbabies to enjoy, take a family vacation, there will be many empty chairs at Thanksgiving Dinners and many Christmas trees without a gift for Dad,son,Mom or daughter under them. Now do you think you owe the brave men and women who are serving, have served or will be serving in the future anything? Veterans are doing their jobs and do not feel you owe them but do feel like you should support and respect them. I owe them everything and i honor and respect them and their families everyday of my life. Fly that flag and keep them all in your prayers or swap places with them.

We not only owe the veterans a great deal, we also owe the families they sometimes must leave behind. No soldier would rather go to a foreign country, deal with dangerous equipment, weapons, ordinance and crazy people than to stay home with the family. A soldier misses a lot at home and the families will most likely never understand the way soldiers feel while they are in harm's way. To all veterans and their families, I say a heart felt thank you. You deserve the ultimate respect and our honor.

You are right, unless you have been in a war and separated from the ones you love by thousands of miles, knowing everyday could be your last, you can never know how it feels and I hope to God that you remain without that knowledge. God Bless our troops and their families everyday and keep them in your prayers.

i'm not one for these page long and long winded posts.
but there's always a first time.......

you can't put into words just exactly what we owe to the veterans who've served this country.
and there's no way that we civilians will ever know what all they sacrifice physically and emotionally so that we can live and thrive in a free nation.
and those are the ones that come home healthy and still able bodied.

that being said, i think it's a damn shame that most only think about them on certain days like veterans day etc...
because in reality, we pretty much relegate them to second class citizens when they return home from whatever battlefield the have been on.
that's beyond shameful.

we don't seem to integrate them back into our society and business world.
we totally overlook the training, skills, pride and intelligence that they have to offer.
employers are completely missing out on getting the best this nation has to offer as far a workforce that is reliable and self motivated.(i wish i could expand my business to be able to take on a couple of employees. i'd damn sure take military veterans over these punk azz college boys any day.)

they return home and it seems like they have to start all over again at square one when it comes to rebuilding a work history.
most return to find that their jobs either have been filled by someone else, or no longer even exist.

they come home to a government that is far from supportive of them.
oh sure, they have services available to them as far as health care is concerned.
but what else is offered to them to make the transition back into THEIR country more hassle free ??
but it seems as though it actually pains the government to live up to the responsibilities they have in making sure that they are positioned back into society with an even chance at success.

we live in a nation that is based on equal opportunity.
but we've seen lately that the p.c. leaders we're stuck with, have changed it into a nation of equal results.
which means that the lazy slackers among us who've never earned anything in their entire lives, have places set aside for them to occupy right up there with ones who've given far more than their share.

vets deserve better !!!

Thanks Guys.
we owe you !!!

and another thing we owe them,
to have our leaders admit that 13 just perished due to an attack from our enemy on our own soil.

There is no way possible to repay the vets for what they have sacrificed. It is some better today than it was after WWII, thank God. The vets that returned after that war had to fight for years to get what the shed their blood for, and in reality most never did. To this day we do not have a hospital closer than Johnson City for our Veterans. The sick and elderly have to travel that far just to receive hospital care. Something is horribly wrong with this picture.

Our veterans are owed respect and sincere thanks from every true American out there. They've risked their lives, their families and everything else they hold sacred to serve our country in order to guarantee our freedoms.

Of course, they come home and are given very little respect by a lot of American's and even less from the government of the United States. The government would rather financially support criminals and the scum of the earth than the men and women that risked their lives for this country and that's a reality that's very hard to understand.

I'm truly thankful to all veterans because they fought to make sure that my child grows up with the freedoms that he deserves as a human being. So, thank you very much. I appreciate you every day of my life.

(Of course, BO and his team are working to destroy everything that our country stands for but, hopefully, he'll be out of office before he succeeds with his mission.)

i used to take a neighbor to the V.A. hospital in Nashville.
and while waiting, i always wandered around and picked up on the "assembly line" feeling of being in need of the services offered there.

my neighbor too, was dismayed at the distance he had to travel once every month.

I completely agree and am sickened that we had an anti-American (and probably have even more anti-Americans) serving in our military, alongside true Americans. What happened at Fort Hood was a terrorist attack and should be acknowledged as one by the President of our country. However, I'd be typing all day if I went into why I think he's avoiding that realization.

Again, thanks to all of the veterans that served our country and all of those fighting for our freedoms right at this very minute.

I'm not a vet, but I think gratitude and respect are probably sufficient. Trying to give more than that would probably be only slow them down.

Veterans Day is approaching and I would like to take a moment to thank all the veterans that have served and the ones currently serving our great nation. Thank you for the many sacrifices that you and your families make on a daily basis to ensure that our rights and freedoms are protected. You are not forgotten and your sacrifices are not in vain.

There is a veterans day program scheduled for Tuesday, 10 November at the Great Smoky Mountain Expo Center from 5pm until 10pm.

I would like to get to know the veterans within the community. Please list the branch of service, component, and number of years served.

I will get this thread started:
Branch of Service: United States Army
Component: Regular Army/ Active Duty
Years of Service: 1988-1996

Branch of Service: United States Army
Component: Army Reserve
Years of Service: 1996-1999

It was an honor to serve.

Hoorah!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Cancer

If you have children at home they'll be really playful today and quite a handful at times. Encourage them to burn off all their energy during the day otherwise it will be a case of tears before bedtime. There could also be a fractious atmosphere between you and a loved one, and this will quickly escalate into a row if you aren't careful.
