Maryville store clerk confesses to lottery thefts

Police in Maryville say when a market owner couldn't reconcile lottery ticket receipts, he pulled surveillance video and found a clerk had been stealing tickets.

Pilot has terminated several store managers for the very same reason. I have no sympathy for these individuals who steal (it's actually property of the State of Tennessee, such that its a felony), however, they work in the store all day long looking at these game tickets, one of which may contain more money that they will earn working for Pilot for the entire year, maybe their entire life.

Again, the lottery takes its toll on those who can least afford it.

YEAH, I HERE YA, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL! I'VE WORKED IN A PHARMACY PURCHASING HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DRUGS IN A DAY, MILLIONS IN A YEAR. And it's also just gambling for people who are bad at mathematics.

Lottery ticket buyers should be taking the money and putting it in a mutual fund... through the power of comound interest, eventually they would have enough saved up to not be dependent on the Social Security that they'll probably never see...
