Is Jamaica not a civilized country? Or are they all dopers prone to violence?

Stay away. Don't vacation there. Many of thes Caribbean nations, unfortunately, are housing "do-nothings" who lay around all day and do dope.

Stay away from these islands until the civilized part starts taking control.

Remember, there are literally, pirates in the Caribbean. Those gangs will start migrating to the US once they have taken control.

what a shame. Where is the justice in Jamaica?

and now you know why so many have fled to america. to live freely and away from this crime. they do not have a central controlling government. its every man for himself. just a small reminder of why you are lucky to live here in america, even with all of its problems. so instead of hating these people, realize what they have to go through. how would you like it if someone came and ousted you from your home? their supposed government is powerless to do anything.

The problem that Jamaica has, along with any other developing and third world nation, is that there is no real law or ability for the government to control these criminals. They have no real economy besides tourism and no real chance for their citizens to have better lives. Why do you think that so many turn to drugs and illegal immigration?

It so easy for people living in a country filled with opportunity and many governmental hand out and assistance to make a comment such as the one made by Lord Stewy. Like any country, Jamaica has good attributes as well as bad. And yes the country is truly beautiful but with many problems as with many of the 3rd world countries suffering with a very high poverty rate. Believe it or not, we were all created to make a difference in the lives of the poor and needy. As such, we need to be our brother's keeper. Yes, Jamaica is facing some serious social and economical issues right now. But may I suggest that this is a time to help rather than hate. Speaking from facts, there are many upstanding people living in the country of Jamaica who are doing great outreach programs and working to change the situation in their country, (not all are criminals). This is an unfortunate humanitarian situation one in which people of all color and from all nations should be asking what they can do to lend a helping hand rather than sitting back and judging the people of Jamaica.

Get ready Lauderhill. Make room for a couple hundred more. Air Jamaica will have about 600 unused return trip tickets very soon. Orbitz will have a bunch of one way ticket deals to Kingston real soon.

Lets not forget that there are certain areas in the U.S. that have very bad gang problems also. The Jamaican Government must be held to task by the Jamaican people. The solution to coral the "out of control" crime rate has to come from the residents. This stupid idea of stigmatizing people who work with the police in pointing out criminals as "informas" has to stop. The police department has to also do some "house cleaning" to get rid of criminal elements within the rank and file. The work to address this systemic issue will be hard and perilous. Many human lives will be lost however nothing good comes without sacrifice. Also remember bad behavior never just stays in one place it permeates. Any of us can fall victim to it whether in Ja. or in U.S.

I'm amazed to see, that in a time when our country has proven itself by breaking its poor stereotypes and negative conclusions, that some people on this board are as ignorant as all outdoors. What a horrible reflection on America.

As a person of Jamaican heritage (born in the United States, and living NOWHERE near Broward county, another ignorant conclusion I've heard), I disagree with the ideas that were expressed here, and can only say that some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. My brothers fought for this country, my parents served faithfully as federal agents to this country, and in spite of all the negativity that is going on in Jamaica, never forgot once that it was this God-blessed country that gave them the opportunity to do better for me, my brothers, and to hopefully return to JA with a better education to make their home better. Now, for those of you who might have taken advantage of the higher education here, you would probably noted that crime in this country is far more than it is there-- however, due to the fact that it is such a small island, it is exaggerated. Hence, would I say that all the shootings that took place in Philadelphia then connotates that the US is a horribly violent place to live? By the way, the Crips & the Bloods are strong, full of history, and they are NATIONWIDE-- along with the Mafia, and the corrupt government of Illinois, to boot. May I highly suggest that you sweep around your own front door, before you blame someone else for your mess and problems.
