Venice is sinking, and it's a well known fact. A rise in sea level of only 1.5 inches causes St. Mark's Square to flood. People mostly live on the second floor and above of buildings because of the frequent flooding.

Agree, but it is a very different place to visit. I was there in calm sunny weather and had a blast. Loved those pidgeons! Hated those rats.

No posters from the Venice of America because only us northern folk can afford to go to Venice. In fact no posters from FLA period. Funny.

Sad but true.
Beautiful city but when the water comes in it is disgusting.

One big lost, for everyone, specially for venezian seniors like my dad. I can not afford the trip but, always was a good thing, to know that Venice was there like another beautifull place . Seems like the world is breaking down, included the nature.

Is Venice New Orlean's sister city? Time to get the ark out of mothballs.

Is that suppose to be humorous? Well get the ark out if you can, but better yet read the Bible and learn the Word of the Lord.

Yes, it is sad.
Not to be morbid but... if anyone ever wanted to see this beautiful city and has not, I'd do it sooner rather than planning for later.

I've wanted to share Italy with my spouse for years now.
We've decided to go next year.

I went there and there was a storm over night and there was just a little water in the streets when we got up. Its really sad because it is a really pretty place and it didn't smell when I was there so that was pretty good... i guess, i've heard it gets pretty disgusting.

Does anyone know if Venice it is likely to flood in Feb.? I'm planning a trip and would hate to go when it's under water. I've been there a few times in Spring and Summer and it has never rained and was lovely!!!

This is what happens when morons build cities at sea level1 Thanks to global warming, in a few short years Venice, New Orleans and most of the Netherlands will all be just a memory.
