It's funny because the locals complained of too many tourists and now they complain there aren't enough. The economy needs to diversify and exports need to increase. I'm all for less tourism as it really is ridiculous in some of these cities. In Florence, we couldn't even get milk at the store, they were sold out from all the tourists. And many of the historic sites are being ruined. Their upkeep is astronomical. Also many local residents have left the cities because they can't afford to live there any more due to inflation. There is such a thing as reasonable tourism and a reasonable standard of living.

My apology for posting this in the other topix, however for the better I would post it here which is the right place. Thanks!

Viva Italia and Arrivedeci Roma! I find myself Italia a good chance for tourism considering the glory that was Rome, Venice, Florence, Napoli, Pavia, Toscana, Sicily, Capri, Sardinia and other islands worth hopping for. Above all, the Holy See with its grandeur of St. Peters Basilica and the Pope as the number one attraction for pilgrims plus other magnificent churches worth visiting for. Italia has more to offer...

Here's wishing that the success would multiply from the 10 million Euro project of the Ministry of Tourism!!!

Venice is a beautiful miracle, but the rest of Italy -- including, most certainly, Rome -- is plain boring (except for a couple of pieces at museums).
Give me Lisbon or Copenhagen over Milan any time.
The Sistine Chapel is magnificent!!!

Milan is also a great city in Italy and it's just near the border of Switzerland.

Milan... Nah.
I haven't been to Naples, Sicily or Sardinia, though. Maybe that will impress me, though I doubt it.
But I am ready to give it a try if I get a free trip (for not longer than 11-12 days, mind you).
I've never been yet to Sardinia but I heard that it's the right place to live a healthful and longer life.

Just in case you are interested, please visit http://www.youtube.com/vaticanit and you will see the video f the day, "Urbi et Orbi" message of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on Easter Sunday at St. Peter's Square. I was flashed on TV wearing a bordeaux with gold trainer under my green with gold umbrella--ella--ella. Then at the Hebrew message, my blue and bordeaux banners and tarpaulin which I posted in the barrier were also flashed. Sharing with you my desire to spread my message around the world...

What has Easter to do with a Hebrew message?

Hi, "JohnSV"! To answer your question you have first to listen the "Urbi et Orbi" message of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI. Afterwards, he announced Easter greetings to the entire world in different languages. During the Hebrew greetings, you could read my banners which were flashed on TV.
