There's about as much chance of accord as a snowball's chance in hell.

This is what I have wanted to see. It might be a long time before we can expect a union. But both Catholic and Orthodox Churches have a better chance of union than they do with the Protestant Churches. A loose union would be better than no union at all. Papal authority will be the biggest stumbling block.

Unity can possibly occure if the Pope becomes the Bishop of Rome ONLY and not Constantinopal.

James that will be a stumbling block, but more so the immaculate conception will be a bigger issue. If correct and please correct me if I am wrong. But my understanding that Mary became immaculate (Orthodox understanding)at the Annunciation when she accepted God's plan thus becoming Theotokos. This differs from Catholic understanding that she was concieved without the stain of original sin. This I feel is a bigger problem in the way that each of us view the Mother of God. If the papacy is viewed as first among equals I think this can be solved. The filoque is not as big an issue because many Eastern Catholic's no longer say the filoque in the creed.
