Grow Up, Middle East

Radical Islamists love to scream about the "decadent" West. Everything from our operas to our attitudes about women outrage these loud pious critics. via Hugh Hewitt

Thanks good read

This type of hypocrisy in the Muslim world is not limited to supposedly devout oil-rich Gulf sheiks who cherry-pick Western sin. Terrorists -- with one foot in the 7th century and the other in the 21st century -- want it both ways, too.

How often have we heard Ayman al-Zawahiri, the mouthpiece of al-Qaida, damn the disruptive culture of the West? Yet he has no reservations about broadcasting his infomercials using video technology made possible by a secular science unique to Westernized culture. And does the observant Zawahiri object that his pals, the pious Taliban, are linked to heroin traffickers?

Jihadists champion sharia law, too. But when captured, they hire sophisticated secular Western nitpicking lawyers to sue over conditions in Guantanamo or incarceration in British prisons. Al-Qaida, of course, complains about everything from American troops once stationed in Saudi Arabia to even the U.S.'s failure to sign the Kyoto accords. Meanwhile, by blowing up religious shrines across Iraq, they show far less respect for mosques than we do.

The Middle East doesn't have to 'grow up.'
Or reform, or even go through the painful process of moderation as long as petro dollars flow.

Mark Steyn: The Vanishing Jihad Exposés

(excerpt)

'We've gotten used to one-way multiculturalism: The world accepts that you can't open an Episcopal or Congregational church in Jeddah or Riyadh, but every week the Saudis can open radical mosques and madrassahs and pro-Saudi think-tanks in London and Toronto and Dearborn, Mich., and Falls Church, Va. And their global reach extends a little further day by day, inch by inch, in the lengthening shadows, as the lights go out one by one around the world.'

Interesting article.
Buy a bank that washes terrorism money, sell the bank to your govt., then deny it all.

let's get on with alternative fuels. The more Biodiesel and Bio-ethanol we can make the better, and gasoline from coal, and other new fuels. Then we can tell the filthy decadent degenerates to
drink their oil.

We have enough oil in the Continental US if we just drill it. If you go out to Texas or Oklahoma you will see wells that are capped. And if we build more refineries we wouldn't need anyone's oil.

I thought of this quote from Meet The Press, when I read your post.

Responding to Tim Russert on the subject of free markets and oil dependency-

Mr. Friedman:'I just want to say one thing in response to market forces--letting market forces send the signal for you to go buy a hybrid. When market--when you leave that to market forces, what you do basically is take all that money that we could be galvaniz--that we could be gathering with a gas tax, and you transfer it to Saudi Arabia. We are funding, Tim, both sides in the war on terrorism. And we had a gas tax on the morning of 9/12, 2001, a $1 a gallon gas tax--that money would have gone to our deficits, our schools, our budgets, our infrastructure. Instead it has gone to the infrastructure of Saudi Arabia, some of the worst regimes in the world, who are using that money to kill our soldiers on the ground. We are funding both sides in the war on terrorism. That's what happens when you leave it to the market."

I am not sure we are funding both sides .

I think we give the Islamics a hell of a lot more money then we do the allied forces.

passerby appears to get it, while Bennington opines that we are funding both sides. The only way out of the dilemma is to use overwhelming force, and we don't seem willing or able.

Interesting that no one here has cottoned on to the fact that "Townhall.com " is another fascist, super-right site. of course trash opinion like this would come from there.

In the case of the Qatari royals, however, they should have booked a whole row if they had a problem sitting next to "strange men" - certainly they had the money to do so. The reason they probably did not is that women in th Middle East are still considered only half-human and chattel.

As far as the Middle East saying they are ahead of the West in "family culture and values," that is entirely a figment of the neo-fascist blogger who penned that crap. The Middle East says they are less corrupt, decadent and liberal than the West, that's all.

Heavy inbound hydrogen bombs. In like fifteen minutes, a trillion Muslims dead.
Running in at Mach 6, they are fast warheads. Only the hand of Allah can stop them. And actually, the way it works, even Allah can't stop them all. That is the plan. Each sub has 24 tubes. Each tube, a classified number of warheads, but let us just settle on 15 per tube. That is 360 1-megaton hydrogen bombs per sub. The United States only has 16 subs in th water with this kind of power, so that is only 5,760 hydrogen bombs within fifteen or twenty minutes of their targets worldwide.
Damn, are those Americans smart and mean or what?
It might be hard to bounce back from 5,760 in bound nuclear warheads. It might be really hard to bounce back from that kind of power!

Dream on. The U.S. cannot even get the space shuttle - ancient technology - to work properly anymore. The launch of those warheads would probably kill you, they'd all fall on your house, so go ahead, let's see them all go!
What an idiot.
