No kidding. Some Americans are such freaks about the human body. I blame the talibangelical christians for all this nonsense. Ever seen the Sistene Chapel? Ooooo...I see a pee pee. ;-)

As a San Pedro resident I say display the statue in a place of homor for all to see. We San Pedrans are proud of our European roots and accept this statue gratefully from our friends across the water in Italy.

How narrow minded are we? What in this world is more beautiful than a man's body?

I can't imagine anyone having a problem with this. Is someone trying to drum up an artificial controversy here? When did people get so freakishly prude about the human body?

Oh sure, a little bit of culture is a problem but drunks, gangs, homelessness, illegals, graffiti, whiney self righteous entitled dockworkers, and Comrade Hahn are freely accepted in a city that could use a little culture? Pedro......

I vote for putting it up. I also predict that it won't last long in its current configuration before some vandal gets his hands on "it".

"A few eyebrows were raised?" And THAT prompts an article suggesting that San Pedro can't handle an anatomically correct sculpture from a recognized artist? Good grief, people!

Why does the Breeze continue to put such silly stories on the front page? The cuts are hurting.

Bottom line: this is not about "culture" or artistic expression v. prudishness, this is about an amateurish statue that a couple of people with too much time on their hands want to cram onto an already crowded waterfront that already has its share of good,(actually relevant) statues -- such as the nearby fisherman's statue that honors Italians, Croatians, and others who helped build SP.

Good! Then there is no reason why you need to comment on our display of a naked man in our community!

Let it all hang out Baby!

I've gotta have some fun with this one.

Yeah "Mostaccioli for Manhood!"

Should we now exchange a naked Male or Female
Statue with Ischia, which?

Anything from the Gay Rights Crowd?

Since it's going to be at the Cruise Ship
entrance, maybe a tradition of 'good luck'
will happen if you slap the statue in the
right place before embarking?

Hurry up and get a picture with "the Penis"
before it's... gone...lol

Not to worry, I'm sure there will be nothing 'Stand Up' about !

C U Saturday at the (gasp!) Unveiling!

Fred, you need a hobby or a life. Please find one or the other. As for the statue, no one with an education gives a d***. The real trash is people with a closed mind. If the shoe fits....
