Full story: CNN

Contradictory reports swirled around the case of an Iranian woman sentenced to be stoned to death for adultery, with one Iranian lawyer saying Monday that she had been whipped 99 times for another alleged offense but another casting doubt on it.

Your knowledge of Iran is based in lies and propaganda.
Iran has struggled against the Taliban(an American creation) for many decades, the Talibans actions are against the principles of Islam and the Iranian revolution which was supported by women and for woman
Iran has a free education system even at university level open to all poeple, this has empowered women to gain strength in Iranian society. Iranian literacy rates are the highest in the ME and woman have entered the work force in large numbers. In 1986 6.1% of the Iranian work force were woman now it is over 40%
Woman have sets in Parliament, are members of police force and army.
Some of Iran's best scientists are woman and woman have brought much pride to Iran.
That is the problem with propaganda, it works. So we may never know the real truth about this, but 99 lashes seems a bit extreme for receiving a old wang. But I will agree with you most Americans do not know about Iran, except for what the puppet masters tell us.

All put out by propagandists. The human rights abusers always lie, and always stack the "official" reports. You cannot believe most of what you read online, particularly if a political party, the newspaper, your own government, or a foreign government says it.

"pjam2825" How dare you use the Eureka Flag! Your country does not stand for truth and freedom and it certainly does not sit under southern skies.

Why would a lawyer flee his country for simple malpractice? He woud question that in a fair court of law. But does iran have a fair court of law or a sharia law which is outdated by 1400 years? Laws that were not in the koran originally.

The simple thing is that the iranian people are cowed by their government to the point that they are told how to cut their hair and how to dress and how to think act and speak. There seems to be no freedom there and by hidden camera I saw a documentary on the international tv channel here which airs iranian news for iranian people in this country (kind of us yes?), a woman being arrested because of her dress, and a man being beaten by the sharia police in the street for looking at her.

I believe in equality for all people and I am just wondering why iran is so afraid of its people being free?

But your use of the Eurika Flag is unwelcome unless you have fought against the unfairness of strongarm government who takes away civilian rights "We swear by the Southern Cross to stand truly by each other and fight to defend our rights and liberties."

It is not intended for government patsies who use media or any other means to try and force their actions and behaviours in word or deed onto others.

I am a revolutionary and therefor have the right to fly this flag to remind Australians that they can rise up against the lies and wars that the Australian government commit.

I have studied Australia and Australian revolutionary culture for thirty years and seek to find common ground between the Iranian people and the people of Australia, I have lived in Australia for long periods as a cultural adviser to Iran.

I know for a fact that many Australians are enslaved in dept and are unable to improve there lot in life under the capitalist system your system is corrupt the coup against Rudd is proof of that.
The mining oligarchs of Australia control Australian system and rape the land stealing the wealth of the nation.
It is the mining sector that makes Australia have the highest interest rate in world this is breaking the back of many Australians yet they will never pay there shear.

It is the mining sector that stops any reform for the environment and only a revolution against them will stop the destruction of the planet.

In the last ten years Iran has built 400 dams and irrigated a large amount of the land Iran has become a net exporter of food as Australia becomes a net importer, Iranian profits from mining and oil are transferred to the people through infrastructure, free health and education. As the mining boom in Australia grows services and infrastructure is reduced this is the injustice of Australian system. University students leave with large dept on top of the highest housing prices in OECD how are they meant to get start in life?
China builds city size of Brisbane every month yet Australian road and rail systems are full of pot holes and delays.

Freedom is objective, in Iran students leave university dept free, they are able to afford housing.
Yes Iran has high standards for public behavior but that is a small price to pay for the freedom to leave your car unlocked and front door ajar.

I do not want to explain to my children why two man are walk down the street holding hands.

I would prefer to be free from that.
