What point ?
The point is that nuking Japan spared the loss of thousand s of American soldiers that would have been lost storming Japan to end the war. That it killed 250k Japanese was incidental. They should have considered the possible consequences before they attacked the USA and started a war they were bound to lose.

And how is the original question stupid ?
It was a "are you still beating your mother?" question, as you must know. First, if it is proven that Iran is on the verge of the bomb, it will be attacked and Iran knows it. If Iran then continues down the same path, Iran will be the proximate cause of what ensues. Second, knowing an attack on its nuclear production facilities is imminent, Iran ought to evacuate any civilians near those facilites, and if it does not, it again owns the civilian deaths. third, if Iran elects to quickly finish construction and USE the weapon, many more civilians will dies in the blast and in what comes after.

Iran is following RIza Pahlavi grand strategy ,It is known fact that during the 1941 Iran Dictatore Shah declared war on Britian ,but did not tell The Army only after Allies attacked Iran ..Jamal Abdul Nasser followed similler Strategy , he did not want to interept tenis game plyed by his chief of staff .I guess Mahmodinijad saying to himself : What difference it makes,to be ready or not to be , same result,I undrestand Saddaam followed same principle ,General Schwartzkpf thought Saddaam must have Kuwaiti General as advicer..HEH HEH : Go to war ,make it short, do not bother with the army preparations, because it makes no difference .
