Iran to Spend 650mln Euros on Persian Gulf Bridge

The plan includes establishment of Persian Gulf bridge spanning 2,460 meters in length and 22 meters in width, setting up a railway line connecting Martyr Raja'i Jetty and from the bridge to Kaveh Jetty, construction of Persian Gulf Highway from Laft to Kaveh Jetty as well as developing and equipping the jetty.

Iran, Austria ink railway agreement

Iran and the Austrian company RAI inked an agreement on implementation of joint railway projects.

Announcing this, the deputy head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (IR) added as per the agreement, the Austrian company is obliged to cooperate with Iranian side on completion of Qazwin- Rasht-Astara railroad.

"The RAI company will cooperate in the fields of infrastructure and signaling the said railroad," Mohammad-Reza Kaymanesh said.

"The project is part of the international North-South Corridor," he said.

Kaymanesh continued negotiations have already been held with Azerbaijan in this respect.

He termed the railroad as one of the most important IR projects, adding the route play a key role in transferring commodities and passengers in the Gilan province.

Why would Iran build railways if they are going to war, much better to use the steel to make tanks and guns.

A railway is easily destroyed and no good for war, just unity and trade.

You are right, it is a bit of a worry that western nations have becomes stagnated and no major projects have been undertaken in the last 20years.

Iran, Uzbekistan to Expand Railway Cooperation

Managing Director of the Islamic Republic Railways Hassan Ziari said in a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart that cooperation between the two countries will further expand in the field.

According to a report by the Public Relations Department of the entity, he referred to the significance of railway link between the two states and said that development of railway network between Iran, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan will facilitate Uzbekistan's access to the Persian Gulf waters.

Rahmatov, for his part said that his country is keen to promote cooperation with Iran in the field, the Islamic republic news agency reported.

The two officials met on Tuesday to review development of railway cooperation.
