An interesting woman.

But I also found this statement interesting.

" Neshat uses the chador, the head-to-toe Islamic covering that is mandatory for women in Iran, as an icon for repression and female identity."

you are right, black chador is sign of repression, there is no other way to put it.

I also found her this statement interesting:

"Neshat is both realistic and critical in terms of her outlook towards America. She charges that there is "an imperial undertone" in this country and that imperialism is as much a part of America's identity as is its democracy. "I believe if America is a truly democratic society, one should be able to stay honest and tell the truth.""-

Actually I found the statement quite stupid. Show me any thing where in anything America that stops you from being "able to stay honest and tell the truth."?

The fact that she can were stupid garments and critisise the country that protects her and sustains her.Is all down to democracy and the tolerance of the American people.
