One of the pillars of Islam is to aid the poor. If the Gazans (who are mostly Muslim) are in such bad shape, then why doesn't a nation that is predominantly Muslim (Egypt) not keep a permanent border crossing with Gaza? Even have one where only so-called humanitarian aid can go into Gaza and the only Gazans leaving are in need of medical help not available in that territory?

The answer is so un-politically correct that many can't bring themselves to think about it let alone actually let it sink in.

After seeing much armor and aircraft turned into smoking holes in 1967 by the IDF, many Arab leaders saw the need to change how the Arab/Israeli conflict was not only waged, but in how it was seen by the rest of the world. Israel early on after being re-born in 1948 was attacked by several Arab militaries, and so got the 'underdog' status with all of those benefits.

So, the so-called poor Palestinians have not only been keep cooped up by Israel, but by Egypt in Gaza and by Jordan on the West Bank. And many of the Palestinians in Jordan and Lebanon have been kept in camps by their Arab brethren.

Egypt opening up a crossing to help bring in aid is such a nice gesture. If Egypt really cared about the Palestinians' plight that crossing would never close. And aid from Egypt and every other Muslim-dominated nation would flow through. Ask yourself why that doesn't happen. Lack of money? There's Arab states swimming in cash. Lack of direction? Islam's Allah has commanded it. Crooked politics? Right on.
