Of all the bottles of snake oil the public schools have ever sold us, none of them is as phony as the need for technology and thus an iPad in every pot and a Chromebook in every bedroom.

Unfortunately, Joe is right on again.
Our schools should teach the three Rs (anybody remember those?), plus things like being on time, being responsible, and socializing with peers.
Those are the basics that prepare a kid for real life.
In the right hands, an iPad can be a good tool. In most hands it's an expensive toy.
The job of public schools is to teach the basics, not give out free toys/tools. Go back to the methods that worked just fine for decades.
