I agree the format was awesome. I was watching the last hour Saturday with many people who had little interest in racing. By 6:00 they were all glued to the TV caught up in the excitement.

How exciting can it be when all competitors have the exact same equipment? Is this what Indy is about?! Nah!!

Really? Ask the 30,000-35,000 that were there on Saturday. Ask the how ever many hundreds of thousands that will be there on race day. Ask the how ever many millions that will be tuning in. No doubt it's lost a little luster but noboldy cares? That is just plain ignorant. The 500 stands alone. Yeah it's part of Indy Car and the IRL. But it has never and never will be lumped in with the rest of the IRL or open wheel season.

Everyone's ignorance is killing me. NASCAR is only the second biggest sport as far as people watching, second to football. And guess what, for the most part...THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME CAR! You are stuck in the 70's when the Hooiser from southern Indiana could build his car anyway he wanted and bring it and try and race it. Uh, times change. Do you know what you would have if everyone got to whatever they wanted, Formula 1. They can barely get 20 cars on a grid because it is so expensive. The problem with the IRL is not the manufacturer or the engine. Were you not watching the same finish as I did last year. That was the most exciting finish in the past 15 years, maybe even longer. Yeah there are only about 8 cars with a chance but come on, get in the present and out of the old days.

Ummmm, isn't almost every racing series out there now using the same equipment? At least there are two chassis...most don't even have that!
