Well, this will be the end of Danica Mania. Practically all the drivers coming over, except Rahal, are a lot better than she is. Once they get their legs on the ground in a Dalara Honda, Dsanica will go from a middle-of-the-pack driver to riding in the back. Even with the weight advantage. There will be more screaming fits ("I'm the victim here") and public foot-stomping by the little girl acting driver.

We'll see. Danica will kick most of their buts for at least 2008. None of them have ever driven Dallaras. If nothing else, America will find out who all these no-name field fillers are.

John boy, get a clue. The weight "advantage" is gone this year. Weight is with driver.
And how about some respect for Danica, after all, she is out there doing 225 into turn 1 at INDY and you AREN"T!

I read an article somewhere that said IRL only had 16 cars running and that CHAMP would only add 6, what's the real count? Is open wheel on it's way to the history books?

Well John, To me 2007 was not a so-so season for Danica. She has the talant, fire, and desire to win. I don't care what gender the racer, but the question of, "should some of the women even be out there" still lingers. Milka Duno is a real joke. Great BODY, but does NOT belong in the open wheel circut.... PERIOD. Sarah Fisher never panned out. Danica may though a fit and complain somewhat. Stomping her feet is the female way. Throwing a helmet at a car that wrecked you is a male's way of showing "child like" emotion. Either way.... it don't bother me. At least there IS emotion. Most times when these racers,...MEN and women alike do this, they have good reason to feel pixxed.

These guys need to really focus on the future of OW racing, THEN worry about how much money they can make from it.

The sponsors, or lack there of, will decide the ultimate fate. Next year will be the turning point, either way since there may be enough time for some teams to doing anything but Indy. Indy should have an excellent bump day, with or with a Tony Stewart sighting.

As Johnny said. Even if there were no unification, the IRL was not going to run with only 16 cars. That was just the number of confirmed. Likewise, 6 is an estimate of cars from CCWS that will run the combined schedule. Deals are always coming out of the woodwork as the season approaches. I'm going to guess 24 cars at Homestead.

She'll have a faster car all year. Nothing the new teams do will make up for the millions already poured into developing improvments.

Bravo to the tracks who stand to lose their races this year. It's good to hear that they aren't going to stand in the way of unification. Very good of them to look to the future and to keep those relationships in good standing.

Now, just finish this and make the announcement!

I think it would be in the best interest of both serries to race their own seperate dates in 2008. This ongoing unification should be for 2009 and beyond. The schedules and race dates are already in place for 2008 and fans have already made plans to attend these events in booking hotels and airfare. What's the big rush? It's been 12 years since the split, what's another year? The timing of this is crazy. I'm all for it happening but I can wait until next year for it to happen.

Props to the tracks that seem to get it. As for you zelots that only want ovals, get over it. Keep a nice mix of oval, road and "good" street courses (LB, St Pete, Cleve). The CART schedule from the early 90s was not the problem. All about TG wanting to be Bill France....and he now is that. Don't screw the pooch on this TG.

It's refreshing to hear what the track owners have to say who might be left out this year.

Note to all the powers that be: sounds like you're standing over a two-foot putt to win The Masters.

DON'T BLOW IT!

John Cole - I think the timing is necessary due to CC's financial difficulties. From everything I've heard or read, the season was very much in doubt beyond Long Beach. Some teams still hadn't been paid the prize purse from last years races. I hope the IRL can reschedule/cancel Montegi so that everyone can run at Long Beach.
