Jeff had a full time gig last season until he was fired. Jeff took over the 17 car after Paul Dana's death. Jeff then lost his ride to Ryan Hunter Ray when he had trouble bringing the car back in one piece.
I hope Jeff has worked out his issues. I also would like to see Jeff drive full time.

I thought he did an excellent job last year at Indy he was up there doing good then he was fired that was weird. I think he'll do ok but Foyt equipment isn't very good so who knows.

Bobby Rahal fired him AFTER he led both the Indy 500 (and ran in the Top-5 for most of the day) AND a bunch of laps at Texas to try to get pressure off Rahal Letterman from the sponsor, who he suspected might follow Jeff to a better team.

Actually Classless Bobby didn't do it himself; he had one of his employees call when Simmons was already at the track for the next race.

The team manager, Scott Roembke, blew the fuel strategy at Indy and Watkins Glen and sent him back onto the track in a car with a mechanical issue at Nashville.

As for "crashing too much", Hunter-Reay did more $$$,$$$ in crash damage in his Indy qualifying crash than Simmons did all of last season.
