"SAMAX director Peter Baron said a car has been acquired -- league officials said it came from Hemelgarn Racing -- and a crew is in place, but he would not confirm additional details about the program"

so why do "league officials" have any comment about a private teams car and whats up with the supersecret no additional details?

smells like the great inheritor is spending Mari's cash on another gimmick.

Hope this dangerously short on talent field filler isn't the version '07 Paul Dana.

Can't polish this turd either, IRL.

Even though I hope the best for Davey Hamilton, he needs to keep his ass out of the seat of a race car. He came close enough to dying down here in Texas to risk it again. Maybe he could be an advisor for someone such as.....Bud Kaeding.

Can Danica take it. She will now have to share attention with Sarah Fisher and this other girl. Danica likes being the center of attention and she will now not be the only pretty face on pit lane.

Sarah, knows her place and takes things in stride. She has always had a good attitute.

On another note.

It will be good to see Hamilton back in a car again. I hope things can get firmed up for this team and drivers. He had a bad accident in which he almost lost his life but true racers always seem to return. He is just confirming what I have thought all along. He is a true racer. I wish him and the team a safe and competative season.

I'm just glad to see that Duno appears to be bringing a new sponsor to the IRL. Citgo. You remember them...the terrorist supporting Venezualean government's oil company.
Maybe Hugo Chavez will be invited to the 500 and can be Grand Marshal of the 500 Festival Parade.

Danica will learn her place, she tried to be a prima donna, but like all ambitions women, found the boundaries of reality quickly enough.

I hear ya...the thing is, most of the oil companies whose pumps you pull up to also buy at least some of their crude from Venezuela. I'm not the biggest fan of Big Oil companies period. But Citgo probably employs over 4,000 people in America, and I'll certainly take their sponsorship dollars to help us get back to full, 28-car Indycar fields.

At least now AJ IV and Darren Manning won't be the only ones at the back of the field.

And right there folks you have the perfect summary of exactly what Tony George has turned the once glorious Indy 500 into.

An uninteresting gimmick that nobody really cares about anymore.

Thanks Tony. You fixed it.

Wow, there are some hateful people in here. If you are true race fans you would just be happy to see that there is still an interest to race in IndyCar! Good luck to all involved. And to the Ass that said " Danica will learn her place, she tried to be a prima donna, but like all ambitions women, found the boundaries of reality quickly enough" Are you freaking kidding me?? I can guarentee that that woman makes more money in one race then you will ever see in your whole life! Just exactly what is YOUR reality??? JERK!

Now, now don't get me wrong. She is a babe, and easy on the eyes. That's the only reason she's there. Her role is to be eyecandy to attract more viewers. She doesn't have a prayer of actually being competitive. Don't kid yourself because she isn't. She's using her assets for a paycheck.

As has been mentioned before, I'm not sure that this is a good time for a Venezuelan presence.

I'd wager that if you and any of these three women went wheel-to-wheel in identical rides, say go-karts, they would make you look silly! Go girls, go!

As for the question about whether the ladies are good or bad for the league, remember "It don't matter if the fans are yelling or booing - just so long as they are making noise." (Dale Earnhardt, Sr.)

I would disagree. Danica's a racer. She came up through the ranks in Europe racing against people who would have just assumed see her expode into the wall.

Danica may never win a race in the IRL...but you can also say that about several of her male counterparts in that league.

Indy still blows NASCAR away, and puts on races as good or better than Champcar. The series finale last year was fantastic.

We will see what she does in an AGR car. If she cant swing it then, then we will revisit. Now dont you get me wrong, she isnt a favorite of mine but she does bust her but and she trys her best. She is a good driver with Talent, otherwise, Michael wouldnt have picked her up. He is hell bent on beating Gananssi and Penske this year and he will only take the best

I believe that the majority of open wheel fans in America are capable of separating the buffoon who currently rules over Venezuela from the good people who live there. I also believe that Milka and her family deserve our welcome and our respect.

Absolutely! NASTAXI has their Columbian (Montoya) and now IRL has a talented lady from Ven. What's wrong with that? Diversity never hurt anybody! How bout we be a little hospitable here.

Now you wanna see fur really fly, ask Berny about gettin some ladies into an F1 car! Love to see that!!!
