A longer and later-starting version of 'America's Original Nighttime IndyCar Race' will be run at Texas Motor Speedway in June.
Reacting to a petition presented by TMS president Eddie Gossage, Indy Racing League officials have extended the length of the Bombardier Learjet 500 by 28 laps from 200 laps/500 kilometers to 228 laps. Renamed the Bombardier Learjet 550, the race on June 9 will begin at 9 p.m. CDT, an hour later than last summer.
I get criticized for being vocal about some things but both these [changes] are good for the fan. And if it's good for the fan, it's good for the sport.
