He has Roy Black as an attorney and he will win. The Feds have a tight case regarding deception but Roy Black can put a lot of doubt in the jury's mind as to how much Helio really knew. That is the crux of this case. Helio is a race drive and national celebrity. He has been far too busy on the circuits and way too trusting with his associates, to have conspired to deceive the IRS. A hefty fine and probation for Helio but some of his business advisors and partners may do some jail time. This includes his sister, who truly let her brother down.

This is the first objective headline I've read about this case all day. Thank you, Vanessa, for not taking sides and trying to influence the public one way or another.

Helio will race in this years Indy 500. Taking a contrated payment made to an ALLOWED and APPROVED annuity in a foriegn country IS NOT ILLEAGAL. Every major sports athelte has been using the same "investment" now for over 15 years. Taxes are ONLY due when you RECEIVE the income/cash flow. Wake up people. Embrace Helio for the true champion he is. No conviction. No jail. No probation. Complete exonoration. See ya at Indy my brother in speed.

I am a big fan of Helio as a race driver. He is one of the best there ever was. Not many drivers have won 2 Indy 500s. It is a privelage for us in this country to have him racing in one of our series. I don't know much about taxes or all this techinical financial hoopla, but it dosen't seem to me like he did anything that would deserve that kind of penalty. It's not like he murdered or raped anyone. I am a loyal fan no matter what happens and hope to see him back behind the wheel of the #3 ASAP.

He hires experts and then goes to jail if they are wrong? Make the experts pay the cost of this plus a penalty.

THIS WAS THE BEST ANSWER THAT I SAW. AT LEAST ONE SMART PERSON IN THIS COUNTRY. JUST BECAUSE HELIO IS BRAZILIAN PEOPLE ARE UPSET ABOUT IT,BUT ALL THE OTHERS THAT DO THE SAME HERE GET AWAY WITH IT. SOME PEOPLE WAS TALKING ABOUT DEPORTING HIM... DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT HE WILL BE SAD WITH THAT.LOL DUDE THE GUY IS A BILLIONAIRE , HE CARE LESS ABOUT LEAVE USA. BRASIL IS IN MUCH BETTER SHAPE THAN AMERICAN NOW.

Even fewer drivers have won two Indy 500's in a row. Bill Vukovich comes to mind and I think maybe Maurie Rose, to name a couple. One guy that knows for sure is the Indy statistician. Some guy from England, believe it or not. Anyway, Helio is going to walk.
