Series waits to see if its stars depart

In 2007, Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 in the rain, drove into the side of a teammate, got miffed at his boss, smashed a traffic cone on pit road and flipped his car twice. Full Story

It'll be very interesting to see how this all shakes out, Chris. It's not over yet...but I'm reading we'll know sooner rather than later.

The hold up is that his contract runs through December 1st. I for one canít imagine wanting to drive 36 races in any kind of car let alone a tin top. But how could one turn down the money. The money you make being a backmarker in Cup is better than being a great open wheel driver.
All the pieces were in place for Dario to race for AGR in the ALMS. Honda wanted Dario to represent them in that area. Heís done with the IRL though.

Yeah...you're right. I'd be willing to bet though that Dario defends his Indy 500 title. We'll have to see.

I would bet heís back for the 500.
So I see the Cubs havenít won a series against a team with a winning record in almost 3 months. They are lucky to have the schedule they do at the end of the year.

The Cubs have given me indigestion since the last time we talked about baseball (when I was bragging about them??). They just haven't produced the offense they're capable of. Of late the bats have come alive, so I hope they make hay with the schedule you mention. They close against St. Louis and Pittsburgh and Cincinnati and Florida. As you say, none of them have winning records. But, as you know, those teams can be effective spoilers (Pittsburgh's been killing everybody lately it seems).

Oh! I'll be in the left field bleachers a week from this afternoon for those Pirates. Last Friday afternoon of the regular season!

Funny... a couple of weeks ago I was the guy 'making stuff up about Darios decision to not badmouth Dixon's move at bell isle'

You really have to quit living in denial.

Money does talk, I'll agree with that. However, if you are competitive and want to win, you wouldn't be satisfied as a backmarker. It's like playing for a losing team--you may get your millions, but others are getting the limelight, and it gets to you after awhile. People stop caring about you because "you suck" being associated with a losing team, no matter how good you are individually.

I'm more worried about the IndyCar series as a whole, than any one driver. Management is suspect, and they need a top-notch marketing person to get out there and beat the bushes. Watching this trend in the wrong direction (no MIS next year, for example) is torture....

If he's going to Nascar and wants to do the Indy 500 Chips the man who would support this so it looks good he'll be back for 500.
