I am far more of a Danica supporter than basher, but the yellow means "caution" and the notion of "hustling" during a yellow doesn't make much sense to me. Not only is there a potential problem with a car(s)on the race track, but there's likely emergency workers and equipment on the track.

You can't have a car going 150mph when there's a safety vehicle in the middle of the track. I think there was time for her to get back to her pit to get four fresh tires without "hustling."

yes , isn't there a max. speed limit when yellow is out ? If so , shouldn't it be a little less than 150 mph ?. If there isn't , why isn't there ?

To FCC:

All the drivers hustle on the yellow if they are behind, they do it to catch up to the back of the pack so that they don't go down a lap when they are pitting or so that they get to catch up for the green flag run.

Going 150 down the straights at MIS is actually pretty slow by comparison to the green flag laps, and you gotta figure they are going around 100 or so for the yellow flag laps.

You can't blame this one on Danica for the crash, you can blame her spin on her, but she should have been told that her tire was in trouble, becauase otherwise, as a driver looking to win, she is going to do everything she can to get to the front.

Race:

Yes, I realize they hustle back to the pits under yellow for position. At least NASCAR got rid of their insane "race back to the line" from a few years ago.

But there's a failure somewhere when she's going 150 miles an hour and there's a safety vehicle basically in the middle of the track.

I didn't intend to put the blame on her for hitting the wall. I guess it's up to her crew and spotters and Green did take the responsibility based on what the sensors were telling him.

It's funny how some of the most dangerous moments of a race come under a "caution" period.

Hey, the reigning 500 champion lost count of the laps they were running at Kentucky, so it happens I guess.

A lot of hype, but little production from Ms. Patrick. Maybe she should stick to doing photo shoots.

Yellow flag is out....
Safety vehicle in the middle of the racetrack....
Danica the Grate decides to punch it after screwing up while leaving the pits....
Even dumb race analysts will know that the tires are damaged from locking up the brakes....
Green tries to take the blame - should have told the driver to be careful....
She can't blame Weldon for this one, but I guess she will silently blame Green....
Barnhart placed all drivers on probation prior to the race - her actions under a caution warrant sanctions.

As a HUGE Indy 500 fan since 1984, I gotta say that I am sorely dissappointed in what the League has become. I used to like the fact that it was Indy cars that were always on the cutting edge of technology, and every year you went you could always expect the cars to be a little faster than the year before.

The powers that be have really made a mistake by turning a "modified" league into a "stock" league. For those that don't know what that means - stock means that the rules force everyone to drive the exact same car with nearly the exact same setup in order to not give any driver an advantage, making for a closer race.

Well let me let you in on a secret - Indy Car races are LESS exciting now than they EVER were. What does that tell you? Indy fans don't think races are exciting because they are close. Yeah that helps, but Indy fans want blinding speed and interesting new technology. Do you realize that the basic design of the indy car has not change hardly at all since the 70's? But before that the designs were changing every couple of years.

Some people here might say, "Well I think that the real reason that the League sucks is because of the split." I see it differently. The split in the league is just the symptom of the problem. The split is one of the "effects". The CAUSE is everything that I have written above.

Get rid of restrictor plates and let the teams choose whatever engine and setup they want. The only thing you should be restricting are the general details like dimensions, and Safety issues like fuel tank design, location and size. Other than that, let it be a free-for-all, like it was for 70 years.

funny stuff how Green jumped on that grenade for the princess.

It will burn him.

And the little hissy fit that couldn't win, with all the meannies in the media asking her why not, and feeling all the pressure she wanks a pit stop.

It was sooooooo predictable it was actually predicted 45 minutes before it happened in "3 teams dominate" thread.

It's hard to believe that NOBODY has ever told Danicant that she has flat spots.

It's even harder to believe that the savior of the league didn't know it was a tire that blew after all of her stupidity (listen to her in car audio)

The IRL....just when you think it was as bad as it could get, it gets worse.

Nice vision, Tony!.

I thought the princessmobile was gonna plow that safety car....it was great television!

Barnhart sez this kind of publicity is bad (flying cars, Danica wrecking because she sucks). It's the only PUBLICITY you EVER get! When someone flys, or some chick wrecks or finishes 4th.

That's PATHETIC and it's the IRL. And now....back to obscurity for the league as it goes to a road course and a street course. HAHHAHHAHAAA. perserving oval traditions there I bet. No, more like serving the YEN masters that OWN the league.....PENSKE, HONDA and NASCAR.

Excellent points as always, Chief.

I might add that this will be the final year for the YEN infusion from HOMOCO as the Honda teat will soon be dry. You see, the gomertards of the IRL don't realize that Honda likes a little return on investment and they are soooo not getting it in the IRL.
Honda also has this noble Japanese idea that competition amongst manufacturers is a good thing and they embrace the challenge.
The IRL does not offer any challenge to Honda and the competition " done runned off" to use some IRL-speak.

I have it on some very reliable extremely inside sources that Honda has already internally cut ties with the IRL and will make it official as soon as they can do so without fear of reprisal and/or lawsuit from the great inheritor who will be left no other recourse when he will be backed into a corner with his little imaginary league of racers clinging to life support and not even mommy Mari's pursestrings will be able to rescue him from his self administered abortion by hangar on himself.

Honda is off to ALMS without even a courtesy bow on the way out.

They are sick and tired of the vision.

I think that Brian Barnhart should have called out, either publicly or privately those that made poor decisions. Putting everyone on probation rarely works, those that were the problem feel like they didn't do anything that everyone else was doing. Those that didn't do anything wrong will spend their time wondering why they got called out. Go to the problem makers and make sure that they really understand.
