Ski...I'm in absolute lock step with Robin Miller on this one. I can't believe I'm saying that...one of the two of us must be mellowing in our old age...

Neither did anything wrong on track. It was a racing incident. After the race, Danika was wrong by trying to place blame soley with Wheldon. Using the fact that she is a female let her grab ,then "push" Wheldon was her biggest error. She knows she can do things because no one will set her on her behind as she deserves.
Danika is a decent driver and has as much right to be where she is as the other drivers. She does not have the right to go after other drivers if something happens that she doesn't like. She needs to realize that.

I agree with Miller on some points. I would like to see Danica win also. It would be good for the IRL and racing in general. I don't want to see her fail, most intelligent IRL fans have to realize she needs to win for the good of the sport. As for her having balls to approach Wheldon without her helmet...She knows no one will strike her. If Marco had don that, He and Wheldon may have gone to blows. Marco seems to have the same temperment as Danica I think.
With the IRL and HPD apparently giving AGR the edge, it is only a matter of time until she wins.

The biggest news of the day is that Duno got all the way up to 205mph before she crashed. I would hate to be any driver from one of the big three teams and have her out there. Some marketing concepts look good on paper, but if this concept fails it could be others that pay the price. Full throttle racing doesn't take a lot of talent as PT and Sebass have stated and Duno can't handle it. Park her!

Ski, interesting points, I doubt, though, that Danica gave any forethought to walking up to Wheldon with or without a helmet; understanding she wouldn't get hit ‘cause she’s a girl. I just think she's got a fighter-mentality; super-competitive personality.

I still have trouble with the idea that HPD is throwing a bone to AGR, or anyone for that matter. Why not, then, throw one to Sarah Fisher? Kick up the female rivalry? No...I think deep pockets thrown at the Dallara equals an edge.

AGR were HPD's team before Toyota went away. Penske and Ganassi ran Toyotas and couldn't really compete when the IRL dropped engine size to 3.0 liters. Now that all have Hondas and most Dallara chassis' you would think the front runners would be the teams who do the most R&D and testing to get the best out of their package. That would be Ganassi and Penske...AGR does not have a wind tunnel at their disposal and they have half the engineering department that the other two have, yet they are right up there with them. The IRL needs Danica to live up to all the media attention given her for the good of the league. If HPD helps out by giving her a little extra power, she could possibly win in an inferrior car (setup wise). But the only problem is the three other AGR drivers. So HPD gives the team the same ECUs and all four benefit from the push for Danica to win. If she was still with Rahal, I bet you would see them up there with Penske and Ganassi. Sarah has not gotten all the attention and therefore doesn't have as much to prove. It makes for a better story if a woman can compete head to head with the guys and win rather than head to head with another woman. The woman against woman thing was tried in the 2000 Indy 500..Fisher and St James. We know how that ended. Lynn took Sarah into the wall with her.

Apparently a lot of people care. Have you noticed the attention she gets and the fans she brings to the sport. I am not a Danica fan, but I do recognize that she is one heck of a racer and good for the sport of racing.
She is far from a good racer. In her Indy career she has led only 63 laps. There are ten guys who have led more this year alone.(Wheldon 531)

I FEEL LIKE THEY CALLED THIS CONFERENCE SO THAT DANICA WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING CRAZY ON SATURDAY TO WHELDON. BUT DAN "WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND" AND YOU AND DANICA MAY BE COOL NOW BUT WHEN SATURDAY NIGHT COMES THAT'S ALL GOING TO CHANGE, BECAUSE SHE WILL NOT FORGET THIS ONE.

Well...that's all well reasoned...but I'm not sure you've sold me yet. It still sounds theoretical.

Questions Why wasn't Danica competitve with her teammates until May this season? She wasn't anywhere near as fast.

I read one interview with Danica at the beginning of May where she expounded on the difference in team support at AGR versus Rahal (implying, engineering and attention to detail). How is that not the difference maker for her?

Or, how isn't 100 pounds of driver with skill versus 130 pounds of driver with skill (Briscoe's weight) not a difference maker?

I think I've got more of a comfort level with those facts than with the hypothesis you lay out. No offense...I just don't see any proof of a "call to Danica" from the IRL and HPD.

Where are people reading about this ECU conspiracy? I'd like to see something on that if it exists.

The IRL was hoping her move to AGR would yield the results hoped for. Other than Kanaan, no AGR driver was running up front with any regularity. May's race is by far the highest profile race of the year in American motorsports. What better race to give "assistance".
Yes her weight advantage should help...but it hasn't helped her to the top of the podium.
As for the conspiracy..let's just say I have my sources. That is info you will not find in print anywhere.

I hear ya...I just think we have a top talent---which I firmly believe she is---moving to a top team. Period. It's as simple as that. The expectation was that she would perform and we're starting to see that.

I've followed her ever since Rahal brought her over from Europe and put her in Atlantics (she's also from up here in Northern Illinois, so I admit to a little geographic bias). But I firmly believe she's a special race car driver who has arrived at an elite team.

Jealousy/contradiction alert on the part of Seabass and PT…they can't say that, but then stick by the old CART talking point that they had the "three disciplines of racing"---road, street and oval---all included on their old schedule. The one they called “the most diverse schedule in motor sports.”

You can't have it both ways.
