Russell Brand everyone is talking about Russell Brand these days. Whether it's his well spoken nature, subject matter or the fact that he is a celebrity so people will suddenly listen, he's a hot topic and I don't mind considering what he is sharing.

He brings attention to the fact that politically and systematically our world is broken and he feels voting will never fix the situation regardless of our beliefs behind the system of democracy. I entirely agree with him in that statement. Time and time again, our system has proven its lack of efficacy when it comes to taking care of the people, creating peace and leaving people happy.

He's certainly not the only one talking about this considering the world seems to be in the early stages of a revolution, but I am glad he is speaking up about it. It is not everyday you see someone with his 'social status' speak about these things so publicly. I think it is a necessary step to get some people listening, but I feel we need to be careful not to idolize anyone.

It's idolizing that makes us forget we are all equal and that all of our words mean something. After all, it is because of the 'average joe' speaking up for so many years that people like Russell even have a stage when they decide to speak out. So remember, your voice is powerful too. Never be afraid to use it.

A note on the talk surrounding the fact that Russell might be a puppet of the Elite. Whether he is or he isn't at this point, he is still sharing information that can wake people up. Anytime the elite throws something at humanity, it is up to us to do what we will with it. Sometimes their plans don't always work in their favor as deep down the world is asking to wake up.

The elite can play the role of making things “too obvious” which in turn helps us see. Is that what is happening with Russell? I don't know for sure yet, but again, it is up to us.

In this next interview with Daniel Pinchbeck on Gaim TV, Russell speaks casually about some very interesting topics. Watch as Russell touches on the need for a spiritual revolution, reptilian overlords, the illuminati and more.

aking No Chances, The Empire Strikes Back With the BBC

“Russell Brand, who are you to edit a political magazine?” asks BBC (British Broadcasting Corp.) interviewer Jeremy Paxman with all the arrogant irrelevance required of an establishment shill at the beginning of an eleven-minute interview on the BBC’s October 23 edition of Newsnight. Posted on the BBC Newsnight channel on Youtube, the interview had almost 6 million views in its first three days

Disappointingly, Brand does not immediately respond to the insult with something like,“Well who are you to decide who does or doesn’t get to edit anything in a country that more or less claims to have a free press?”

This segment of Newsnight isn’t exactly for serious news. It’s also a promotional appearance by Brand, whose primary work is as a comedian and actor, currently on a world tour of his stand-up show, Messiah Complex. It opened in June, but doesn’t get even a mention in the interview. Brand is on the program now because one of Britain’s more successful political magazines, New Statesman, has just published its October 24 issue for which Brand served as guest editor, organizing the content around the present need for global revolution. He explained his appearance in New Statesman in a 4,500-word editorial that began:

“When I was asked to edit an issue of the New Statesman I said yes because it was a beautiful woman asking me. I chose the subject of revolution because the New Statesman is a political magazine and imagining the overthrow of the current political system is the only way I can be enthused about politics.”

So when the over-dressed, neatly bearded Paxman challenges the under-dressed, shaggy Brand about his “credentials,” Paxman is both quietly bullying, and is committing a basic logical fallacy: basing his argument on authority, rather than facts. Instead of pointing this out, Brand answers with a variation on the opening paragraph of his editorial, with an added joke about being “a person of crazy hair, quite a good sense of humor, don’t know much about politics – I’m ideal!”

“But is it true you don’t even vote?” Paxman immediately asks next, already knowing the answer. Brand confirms this, he’s never voted. Then, not even thirty seconds into the interview, Paxman seems to go gently for the jugular:“Well, how do you have any authority to talk about politics then?”

This is just a thought, but there isn't a lot of historical success with "revolutions" in Mr. Brand's lineage. Aren't his people like "0-1", or something?

Yes, because the elite have such a stellar historical record of improving the lives of us unwashed. The elites have always shown that they donate their riches to better the lives of the masses, making massive cuts to their wealth in exhange for healthy, happy subjects (extreme sarcasm)

No thank you. I'll still take democracy, with all it's inherent inefficiencies over what you or Brand dream of. Our votes are valuable, but we have allowed them to be devalued by not using our brains when casting them.

Man up Moe. Wishing to be cared for by the Elite, the State, the Illuminati a benevolent dictator or whatever other system you see as an improvement over a free democracy is the dream of a gutless child, too afraid to live their lives. If that is how you truly feel, you would be better off climbing back into our mother's womb.

Be-careful retard. You may be one of the first to go in the ovens during the revolutions. Those who believe in the present style of government are children or morons.

Keep thinking of your political adversaries as retards. It will give you a false sense of superiority and will only make your defeat, political or otherwise that much more crushing when it inevitably happens.

But let me entertain your warped little fantasy just for fun. Say you takers do overrun us. You kill us, ostracize us, put us in prisons. You know...the exact same strategy that every other tinpot dictator in the 20th century has done. Then what? Who will grow your food? who will provide you the very services that your very survival depends on? Who will provide you the gasoline to run your cars, the energy to heat your homes? Who will grow your food? You know, the very same people in this country that got an education, worked hard, saved and slowly through a lifetime of patience and sacrifice have accrued a comfortable lifestyle. Those through your envy and greed you vilify. You and your kind have demonstrated that you are incapable of making any decisions in your life, or at least the right decisions. You contribute nothing to society, and then whine like little children that you're not respected. Your entitlement mentality will be the slow death of you and your kind. You are neither smart or resourceful...just full of yourself.

You sound like that AA1 moron who was driven out of here months ago after he was tarred and feather with racism, gun/penis envy, and his expressed wish for the annihilation of the lower classes. He was a piece of work.

Hope you end up like Lincoln Plowman and his ilk. Hochins was similar to you and look what happen. He died rich though.
I say down with the 1% and on with the revolution.

Russell Brand doesn't think a revolution is coming... he knows it.'I ain't got a flicker of doubt. This is the end—it's time to wake up.'(Screenshot: BBC)The British left weekly New Statesman has taken a chance on an up-and-coming rogue editor, but the actor-comedian and newly welcomed progressive-minded firebrand Russell Brand seems so far to be a brilliant and elegant choice.

Tapped to guest-edit the magazine's 'Revolution' issue this week, Brand is making waves both for his feature-length essay on the topic but also with a televised interview that aired Wednesday night on the BBC with veteran Newsnight anchor Jeremy Paxman. In the ten-minute interview, the 38-year-old Brand points at the futility of voting in a corrupt democratic system determined to serve the interests of the ruling class and not only predicts, but guarantees, that the "disenfranchised, disillusioned underclass" created by the current economic and political system—both in the UK and worldwide—will rise up in popular revolution against the failings of the current corporate-controlled paradigm.

Paxman questioned why a comedian such as Brand, especially one who doesn't vote, should be trusted to offer his views on the political system.

"I don't get my authority from this preexisting paradigm which is quite narrow and only serves a few people," Russell responded, himself questioning why voting or not voting in a corrupt lopsided system should provide moral or intellectual authority. "I look elsewhere for alternatives that might be of service to humanity."

Additionally, he said: "It is not that I am not voting out of apathy. I am not voting out of absolute indifference and weariness and exhaustion from the lies, treachery and deceit of the political class that has been going on for generations," said Brand.

In response to Paxman asking if he saw any reason for hope, Brand jumped at the question "Yeah, totally. There's going to be a revolution. It's totally going to happen," he said. "I ain't got a flicker of doubt. This is the end—it's time to wake up."

The interview is worth a complete viewing:

Yawwwwwwwwwwwwwnnnnnnnn! Your deconstructive BS is boring and so predictable. In your desperate attempt for attention and validation you can't even be original. You sit in your go nowhere job, probably as a barista at Starbucks, lamenting the pinnacle of your existence, those glorious weeks when you were beating a drum, sexually assaulting hippie chicks and sh!tting on police cars at the OWS encampment. You probably graduated with honors after majoring in medieval lesbian literature, which gives you that completely undeserved feeling of elitism. You probably have to take your birkenstocks off in order to make change because your faculty advisor and mentor probably told you that taking math classes was only for 1% imperial corporatists. Your feeble threats of revolution only make me laugh. You and your fellow travelers couldn't even organize a game of musical chairs, let alone a revolution

Not that jerk. I've never had a problem with BMI. In fact I like him. I find that we agree with each other more often than not and when we don't we can still find common ground. I just don't suffer OWS fools who advocate either anarchy or totalitarianism.
