Have ancestors that were amish and I always wonder how the amish women are treated in there homes. And what does the Bible say about the wife being submissive and quiet . Does anyone know about the the behavior the men toward there women.

They only believe in the missionary position.

They say that Lilith, the woman created before Eve, wanted to do the cow girl position, so she was thrown out of the Garden of Eden. God then made a woman that was not Adam's equal by using his rib.

Women have been under the dominion of men ever since.

I like that women have values and morals in the Amish ranks. I like that they actually read their bibles and take pride in work and how they raise their children without Govt handouts. I like how they are self sufficient on Amish farms.Yes some use modern day electricity and machinery . Yet they still pull together as a community. They raise barns and homes. They look out for others children. They aren't hung up on material things that so many in this word max out all their credit cards just to keep up with the Jone's .If more people were Amish, There wouldn't be a big Govt and wasteful welfare programs and social inner city decay and high crime. It's nice to see people live a simple life in such a cruel world we have now. Then again they could be more like those Hutterites that are shown on TV now. They drink beer, and cuss, yet they are a lot like the Amish haha in other ways.I mean when did having morals and basic values become a disease? Treating people with common decency and respect. Loving thy neighbor without envying what they have in money and property. There are more women CEO'S of huge companies than ever before, Id say women have come a long way. You can't whine about equal rights and pay, Then expect men to work harder if you wanted equal rights. If a woman of the house makes more money than her husband, The man decided to stay at home and watch the kids, Then the woman can't complain. Or if the man kept his less paying job and worked only part time .I worked some very hard jobs in my life, Many times I had women working with me complaining if they had to lift something heavy. They would tell me , Well you're a man you should lift more. I'd tell them , Then I get half your pay for doing half of your work also.I was even told once when I was single and no kids. Well you are single, You should have to work more. While the woman got time off for being pregnant . I mean again if we are all about we are the same, Then even a man should get 12 weeks off if he wants it for personal reasons haha.If you post back to me, Please I want no complaints just submission haha.

Kaptoes! Men can and do get time off from work when their wives have a baby.

Where the hell have you been?

I know a guy working in a hospital right now whose SAHM wife had a high risk pregnancy and he was able to get time off to spend at home helping her while she and the baby recovered. If you are the only breadwinner in the family, you get time off even if you're not the carrier of the baby.
Not sure how this applies

I thought we were talking about amish women, not sure how we got in the discussion about women taking off work for child birth. First off, amish women are stay at home moms. So no family medical leave for them, they are probably relieved of their house hold duties for the interim.

As far as their treatment, they are treated fine for their belief system.

P.S. Russia very nice picture :)

The revolution against the missionary position is being fought in the streets.

I did not know God was against us.

amish are cruel to their children, their animals and women are chattle. the all forgiveness is selfish, its about their own souls, not the spirit of forgiveness.shunning is commonplace and cruel.any thoughts outside the elders anout you go to face damnnation.they dont want cars or phones or electricity but take full advantage of others to charge cell phones and get rides, they dont mind because non amish are all called english and seen as less than them

Mary says she'd use those fantasies as an emotional escape from what she says was her horrible reality -- a childhood and adolescence of sexual assault and rape.

"If somebody was raping me, I'd look up to the ceiling, count the blocks or count the cracks in the wall, or just I was completely not there emotionally. I would have committed suicide many times over if I wouldn't be strong," she said.

Through the years, by Mary's account, she was raped by several different attackers. But one abused her more often than the others -- her brother Johnny. Johnny, one of Mary's eight brothers, began assaulting her when he was 12 and she was 6. The assaults continued into her teen years, she said.

"I couldn't go to the outhouse because there was always somebody waiting there. I couldn't go anywhere alone. There was just no place I could be alone," she said.

As time passed, another brother, Eli, followed suit.

"He'd rape me down in the milk house when I was cleaning up the milk house. He'd rape me down in the barn," she said.

The violence in Mary's family began with the head of it -- a stepfather who, she says, continually beat both Mary and her brothers.

"He hit them with shovels and hacksaws, fists, halters, anything and everything he could get his hands on," she said.

"how do the amish treat there women"...

Like horses...ride them hard, put them up wet, and if they give you any trouble, hit them up side the head with a 2 x 4.....look it up, it's in the bible.

I wish I had an Amish lover!! Sounds almost too good to be true.

So if a bad guy visited their farm and did the deed, there would be no charges filed.

No charges, but he would have to help milk the cows and maybe help with a barn raising.

I knew a former Amish woman who told me when she left her husband he used to beat her and kicker if things didn't go right she left her kids with him she told me he had sex with my daughter more than he had sex with me incest is very common amongst the Amish she said he treated me like it was his property like he could sell me to one of his fellow brothers when he got tired of me so she left him for a better life but without her children
