YES ! YOU ARE RIGHT, THEY ARE ALL LIARS AT CENTEX HOMES, AND THEY ARE PROBABLY TRAINED TO LIE. I PUT MONEY DOWN ON A CENTEX HOME IN WPB,FL IN FEBRUARY 07. THE CENTEX SALESMAN TOLD ME THAT THE HOUSE WOULD BE READY IN DEC OR JAN.08 AND I THOUGHT I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO SELL MY CURRENT HOME. BY JUNE THEY WERE ALREADY BUILDING THE HOME AND NOW IT IS SEPT AND THE HOUSE IS COMPLETE AND THEY WANT ME TO CLOSE. I STILL HAVE NOT SOLD MY HOME AND THEY KNOW I CANNOT CLOSE SO THEY ARE STEALING MY $20,000.THEY KNEW DARN WELL WHEN I SIGNED THE CONTRACT, THAT THE HOUSE WOULD BE READY MUCH SOONER, AND LIED STRAIT OUT. THEY HAVE ALL LIED FROM THE BEGINNING. I WENT ALL THE WAY UP TO THE OPERATIONS MANAGER TO TRY TO GET OUT OF THE CONTRACT WHEN I SAW THAT THEY WERE READY TO START BUILDING IN JUNE, BUT THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. NOW I AM LOOSING MY LIFE'S SAVINGS BECAUSE OF ALL THEIR LIES. THE FORMAN TOLD ME THEY KNEW FROM THE BEGINNING THAT THEY WOULD BE COMPLETELY OUT OF THAT NEIGHBORHOOD LONG BEFORE DEC. AFTER MANY CALLS TO SEVERAL PEOPLE,(THE HIGHER UP) THEN THE SALESMEN TOLD ME HE WOULD TRY TO SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE AND GIVE ME MY DEPOSIT BACK. THAT WAS A LIE TOO. THEY DONT EVEN HAVE THAT HOUSE LISTED ON THEIR LIST OF AVAILABLE PROPERTIES. I AM DEVASTATED OVER LOOSING THIS MONEY. DON'T TRUST CENTES HOMES
I can only imagine what you are going through. I am an Centex salesperson who also lives in a Centex home that I purchased before going to work for Centex. Most owners in my Florida Community are extremely pleased with their homes. I am completely honest with my buyers and have been since I got into homes sales several years ago but I will admit their are dishonest people in all companies. The salesman should never have made promises period and the contract used not only by Centex but most major builders always state that the buyer should not rely on oral reputations made by anyone. The bottom line here is get anything and I mean anything you want in writing. I am not here defending Centex because I am sure like everyone they are not perfect but as consumers we have to be responsible for our actions and what we sign and agree to. I hope you sell your home and move on.

I know not everyone is the same, but I met countless number of people at Centex in Jacksonville that lied. Alot of them lie because they need to put food on the table for their families, but when it comes to Centex BEWARE! I can't stress it enough. It's not just to be careful what you are signing, but by all means make sure you hire a lawyer WHENEVER you deal with Centex. CMR- I am so sorry for all this, we lost alot of money too. There is a possibility that a lawsuit is pending against Centex. They deceived many of us in that community, so a class action lawsuit is a possibility-lawyer is working on it. I hope that are stopped. They really are ruining peoples lives. A home is something of the "American Dream" for alot of people, and they just trampled on us. It's the big guy having the power to mess with the little people.
TO ALL WHO HAVE "ANY" DEALINGS WITH CENTEX-
Pay for a lawyer to view all your documents and do research for you, even if it means paying 1-2 thousand dollars into it, you will be thankful in the end. Think about it: your spending soo much money on a house, what's another 1-2 thousand? I wish we would have because this probably wouldn't have happened.

Please take heart to the fact that your unit is, at the very least, is filled with better upgrades and workmanship. I know, I know, considering the forum that's hard to believe. In our current climate there is no way they could continue to sell those units at those prices. I know the two story centex homes now have wood framing on the second floor instead of CBS all the way up (yikes). A lot of people feel as you do about the money thing. I guess we should just be thankful that we can absorb this shock. Many others have lost their homes due to some really poor financial advice. I remember hearing the push myself. It was tempting but I was too strapped at the time.

okay.. we bought in Southshore Falls Apollo Beach, Fl 2005.First time we tried the water it is horrible. Called HOA and Warranty and County...HOA said no water problem. County finally came out and tried to solve complaints...I installed water conditioners.2 years later it still stinks...First the warranty rep said to open all water full force.
pipes started vibrating...called him back and he said shut them off...(I already had) plumber was sent with snake and out came a piece of plastic sheet the size of a football.
I also bought an investment in same subdivision\June 1, 2007 pipe fitting in masterbath came apart..flooded entire unit...2 weeks later it was finally dry and new carpet installed; renter was brother or he might have left...it was a mess..no offer of hotel etc....but the worse thing they did was to start lowering the prices a year ago..and a couple of weeks ago were selling units for $50,000 to $120,000 less than what we paid...and this is an active adult community where the homeowners can not just go out and get a job to recoup the losses...I am so upset with Centex I am looking into lawsuit...and I loved it here 2 years ago inspite of the horrible water,,,

We completed our construction April 2006 out of the Pittsburgh division and that winter we had frost on our windows with ice and condensation every morning. We have oak trim and that eventually will rot the wood and turn it gray after we paid all the xtra money for the trim work. They came to our house several times and told us the humidity level was to high b/c in new homes there is a high content of moisture in the air, so they used their little moisture meter and said it was 30% I believe, we questioned that. This went on several visits. They installed a freshair vent in the basement and the elbow part of that has so much condensation on it where the warm and cold air meet that we had to wrap a towel around it so it wouldn't drip on the floor. I got a letter in the mail stating after all the visits and the company Silverline came from Ohio to look at our windows that there was nothing else they could do and basically stop calling the Customer Care line b/c they are not coming. Oh, also our bigger familyroom window is loose you can move it, and in between each window you can stick a butter knife between them, they are not sealed prpoerly along with air coming in around them. WONDERFUL!!! We have one squeaky spot in the kitchen, it's like a crackle crunch when you step.We had a couple other issues. too. Anyone else out there having trouble with their windows? E mail me @ Spider_555@atlanticbb.net Thanks and good luck to everyone!

What the insurance companies are not telling you is that code changes were made just a short time after the homes here in S. Nevada and the responsibility of bringing them up to code. This can cost an average of thousands on top of mortage fees. Usually, the home owner isn't aware that their home is not up to code till an emergency accures -for instance a broken water heater- requires a service technician to do a inspection before the repair work can be performed. Then you will find you are not covered under their warranty. They are perfectly aware that these warranty jobs are continuous due to poorly manufactured products they have been installing in these newly built homes. However, they are not telling the insured that this problem is one to be concerned about. Quite framkly these insurance companies in connection with the warranty division are making a heafty profit. Home buyers should have a full inspection performed before buying into a serious problem.

my husband works for Centex Homes in CA and he has to listen to all of you bitching about the petty things all day. Can't cahnge the light bulb, my sprinlers don't come on when I snap my fingers, blah blah blah. Get your hand out of your ass and learn how to do the basic things. Yes it is manual labor, but if you want to see in the dark than be responsible. Read your contract before you sign, pay attention during your walk through, and voice anything that needs repairs before you move in.

Nooooo... your husband needs to learn how to build a house. We are buying his product. RIGHT??? If we are gonna pay for it, IT BETTER BE RIGHT!!! Centex homes are crap... lets face it. Pop up, generic, blue light special. They dont care about quality, they just want them built AS FAST AS THEY CAN. Gotta get that money!

I bought a house in Los Lunas NM, in Dec 2005. My house and at least four others are settling towards the street and centex has blamed me for overwatering the lawn. The street has cracks in it that appear to be related to the sewer lines that were trenched out. Of course centex says that they did not do anything wrong, I have cracks in my walls, the front porch has been replaced already and will need to be replaced again. The company standpoint is that I set my sprinkler system (a drip system) to water the three charlie brown shrubs too much. I cannot wait for the five year hard rain that New mexico gets. I guess that I will be blamed for not covering my rocks in front and letting the rain water cause settlement issues. I am not a satisfied customer and would not recommend centex to anyone!

Maybe your husband should find a job that is better suited for him, like pushing old ladies in front of traffic or stealing candy from a baby! That is how centex has treated the owners in New Mexico. I hope that the code enforcement people in your artea are not afraid to walk in the houses like they are in NM.

I don't know about other cities, but in the Indianapolis area, Centex is messing up the market with their continued fire sale mentality. Several of their communities in Indianapolis area have dropped their base prices as much as 100,000.00 on the same plans in the last year. If I were one of their early owners who have just seen their homes go upside down by a hundred thousand dollars I would be looking for a class action suit to be reimbursed for my losses caused by Centex.

Centex built the Oakmont estates accross the street from Olympia. Something was wrong with the ground it had Lead or Arsenic. After the homes sat there for 2 yrs they are suddenly cleared of all these toxic chemicals. AND Centex lowered the price to 1/3 of the orginally asking price. They are in a real hurry to dump these homes on innocent buyer victims. I put my house up for sale and I'm having open house with a proud statement my house has no lead!
