This story raises an issue that affects us here in the US. In countries that have government-negotiated pharmaceutical prices, if a manufacturer(Lilly) and a national purchasing agency cannot reach an agreed a pricing agreement the country can threaten to manufacture a generic version. This process can lead to increased costs for drugs in the US as companies try to recover the profit lost in these situations.

These generic drug firms have nothing to lose and everything to gain if they will this court battle. They spend absolutely no dollars on discovery and research. It's no different than you or I inventing something and someone coming along thinking he could make big dollars on our ideas without lifing a finger to do the work. It's like the boss taking credit for the employees' ideas. It just gripes me.

Oh, my how awful if Lilly looses a few million. What about the everyday person who can only afford the generic drugs. I have one pill that costs me 90.00 the got a generic and not it's only 32. per month. The very same pill!!! shows you how much the drug compies care about us. There people might not get a new jet this year if we let someone make a generic so we can afford them.

While you are drugging your child you should at least look at what the opposition is saying. Ck out the two links I gave and ponder. Who funds CHAD. The big pharma who make millions pushing drugs. It is criminal.http://www.google.com /search?hl=en&q=drugging+o ur+children&btnG=Google+Se arch

I think Lilly may be in trouble on this one, if indeed it is undefensible and I firmly believe the India company has investigated this, Lilly might as well forget fighting it. Reaching into other legal systems is a difficult task and in this case, Sun has no presence in the U.S., therefore only international law will apply and in the case of India, the Indian system overrules anything Lilly can bring against it.

I don't blame you for buying the less expensive drug; who wouldn't, if it were just as effective? However, please keep in mind that it was originally developed by a pharmaceutical company, which cost that company a great deal of money in research and development, testing, FDA approval, and all other related costs. If it weren't for pharmaceutical companies developing these drugs in the first place, there would be no generic drugs. Lilly and other drug companies have a right to have their patents protected until they expire.
