I notice that the Red Star Rag, the media outlet for the democratic party, has run two pages of photos and articles for Andre Carson now. They did manage to run one article on Jon Elrod's election in today's rag. This is to show how "unbiased" the rag is.

Jon Elrod is a wonderful landlord and friend. I really hope he wins. He actually sticks to his convictions and follows through with his promises. Go Elrod!

It would be refreshing to see you in Washington representing the people of Indianapolis, I may move from Fishers to your district just to vote for you!

Where are the black candidates, this was a stupid move if the repubs want the seat. Very dumb!
Where are the Pacers? They have enough guns and gangsta rides to cruise the district and demand votes. They could even bring along a few strippers to the pep rallys!

I know Elrod, and he comes from a very good family and him and his brothers are some of the smartest people you will ever meet. I would vote for him just because of his intelligence. He is a genuine person and is always asking questions, because he really wants to know. Any district would benefit from his representation. I don't know Andre Carson, but he shouldn't get elected just because of his name. I doubt he will have the same clout in his district as his grandma. Hopefully whoever wins will actually show up in Washington.

Oh great another RINO ... republican in name only ... a young white social liberal with less than two years legislative or political experience trying to hold one of the highest federal offices in the state, running against the sympathy vote and the Carson machine.

Can anyone say Congressman Carson?

Republicans have blown it again.

You know, Carson getting the nod from the Dems was fixed. I don't know why anyone else was placed against him. Let's pray that Elrod can make it!

The fact that Andre is the dem candidate shows you that even the most unexperienced idiot can ride the coattails to office.

and for all you democrats that will bring up Bush in this post, save it. Bush was Governor of Texas and had SOME leadership credentials.)

So what if this election is somewhat racially divided. How can it be avoided. Carson's machine is a get out the black vote machine and there's a lot of vertical patronage. That's a compliment. It was a well oiled machine that won over and over. But more than half the voters in the 7th are white, about half the voters are Republican, Republicans haven't held the seat since 1972, and Elrod gives them something to fight for. That means fighting against Carson and that political machine. I don't think you're going to hear many racial slurs, but the 38th St welfare mentality of Carson's group is at issue. Andre Carson and his constitutents are the poorest end of the 7th spectrum. Elrod's going to appeal to the other end. It'll be a fair fight. Have some faith. I think Carson's going to lose bigtime. Change is the catchword of the national presidential primaries. Change in the 7th means Elrod.

If I lived in this district, which I don't, I would happily cross party lines just to keep ANOTHER Carson family member from embarrassing the state in DC.

I've rarely seen anything as tacky as Julia Carson's funeral. The woman wasn't even cold and people were trying to ramrod her grandson down our throats.

That IS a sign of things to come should he be elected. Of course, his Grandmother wasn't on Capitol Hill enough to do much damage...

You're showing your ignorance again as I'm sure you do on a daily basis.

I don't know Elrod well, but have observed him and his work at the State House. He is very approachable, is an extremely hard worker and doesn't follow lock-step with the party. He will be a great challenger to Andre Carson who has only three months of elective service under his belt and has never made it on his own (his job with the state was given to him by the O'Bannon-Kernan Administration as a political gift to Julia).

Note to self: if I want to get a Republican nomination don't quote FDR in my speech during slating. 3 of 4 did, Jon didn't. He's the best candidate on top of that fact, but come on folks, quoting a socialist at a GOP convention.
