Think about it

It comes down to poor management from central office, poor decisions based on saving money, and a lack of understanding juveniles are just that; kids who are not adults. Sure some of them need to be in adult facilities. Trying to make all IDOC facilities (juvenile and adult) run the same with the same policies and procedures limits the juvenile facilities.
I believe the whole system needs to be revamped. I think that to truly help kids at risk, we need to intervene at a much younger age. I think classification of juveniles needs to be more of a focus. If we had facilities based on ages, crimes, and needs the kids who are younger, weaker, or less criminal would not be manipulated, preyed on, or taught to be more criminal minded.
However, as many can see through all the negitive blogs about corrections and criminals, there are many out there in society who don't care or fed up with paying too much taxes. Either they think all criminals (kids or adults) deserve to be treated poorly or have no regard to the fact that "they"-the criminals are going to be your neighbors, the person serving you at a fast food place, the person fixing your car, the technician working on your cable or anything else you can imagine.
OR
They will be the person selling drugs to your kids, introducing your kids to gangs, the person car-jacking you, the person crashing into you because they were using drugs, the next person to murder someone, or anything you can imagine.
BOTTOM LINE ----- THIS TAKE MONEY !! Human services and social services CANNOT be ran like a business! It is all in what we as a society want to spend our MONEY on. I personally would rather spend on the front end than face the long term consequences at the back end.
