"About 55,000 to 85,000 unauthorized immigrants live in Indiana, according to 2006 estimates from the Pew Hispanic Center."

Thoughts of The Joker: if The Joker knew of a country with this many outlaws residing in it - The Joker would send in the Marines. Where else could you identify and arrest that many crimials?

I hope you are joking, because the way you are thinking is playing into the politicians hand, by what you are saying there will be repercussions from people that are being sold down the river ( people born in this country legal citizens ), and if it keeps going the way it is it will be like the 60's and the race riots and no one wins when stuff like that happens. If the politicians don't get off there butts, things will trun ugly just like in the 60's...

We all need to consider closing the
American borders to illegal aliens, a matter of Homeland Security. All person in America should pay taxes to
received benefits. Each & every working person in America is over taxed to pay for the illegal aliens,a
matter of RIGHT & WRONG. This is not
racial profiling!

Wow. All this time I thought my taxes were going to the Indiana state government and Washington DC. All the while they should have been going to Mexico?

From reading the article, if all the workers were to leave the state because of an immigration law, does that not say something about the status of those workers?

Well, maybe the lawmakers ought to get out of the house and talk to the business owners. If there are so many of Hispanics already @ work and they are all working...Who else is going to do the work? This has nothing to do about cheap labor because they are paid the same as anyone else that wants to work. Send them home...but where are the workers? Seriously, who is going to get the work done? They are not here. Rep Delph??? Your town wouldn't let the American worker from Center township work in Carmel years ago. So who is going to get the job done. Where is the unemployment rate that will replace the ones sent back. Quit racial profiling and instead work with the business's to sponsor and allow these workers to go thru the proper channels of becoming American citizens while being productive. Where is your common sense?

Illegal means illegal. Liberals, lawyers, and paid special interest grooups cannot change the meaning of the word to promote their personal agenda. Let's be real!!!!!!!!!! Stage legislature: show some guts and pass what your constituents expect you to pass.

This is RACIST. If you were importing Illegal Africans into the US and making them work for substandard pay and forcing them to live in squalor it would be called SLAVERY. I thought that our ancestors settled that a long time ago. Business Owners and Concerned Democrats, If you want slave labor and sweat shops Do Not Disguise it as a Community Service because It is Not. Illegals are just that - Illegal.

Hopefully, no incumbent who votes against this bill will be taking up space in the state house after the next election. This bill fits in nicely with property tax relief - sending the illegals packing will result in significant savings in money being spent to provide them with free health care and educate children whose parents feel no need for them to learn to speak English.

Here's an idea. Let's send all of our poor uneducated people to Mexico and see how they like it. Hey now, they have a right to a job don't they just as much as illegals. Then again if there is no such thing as an illegal human the Mexico should have no problem with it.

Furthermore, these workers are paying taxes on every paycheck plus Social Security that they probably won't collect. Send them all back....and the Soc. Security system will go broke. People....wake up and do the math...there are jobs here and we do not have the workers in America to fill them. The Fed. government should have worked on this ten years ago...but instead turned their backs. So it still isn't fixed. Don't make rash decisions based on whether you like them here or not. It is very necessary for the economy of the State of Indiana, and the U.S. economy. Typical State leglislators.....out of touch with mainstream America. Someone respond...who is going to do the work??

If the politicians keep messing around with enforcing the law and shutting bussinesses down that hire illegals, we are going to see blood in the streets just like the race riots of the 60's when our politicians sat atop there ivory towers and laughed as people killed each other over what seemed to be a simple ansdwer of equallity, but no they sat on there butts until so many people were killed and injured that they had to take action. Why don't you politicians get off your dead as** and pass this bill and hopefully cause the people here illegally to go back and come here the correct way.

Get R-E-A-L there are not sweat shops, they do not live in squalor, and they are not paid cheaply. What is wrong with you? You are out of touch. They are illegal because our system failed. Call it open borders, poor immigration policies, poor immigration system, lack of business production needs. LEADERS are to LEAD not always what constituents want. They were elected to LEAD. Our LEADERS failed to see what was coming. We had a need for jobs and no one to fill them. You want to know why?? Think about it?

To start off with, most businesses that hire illegals pay them under the table, so taxes are paid from either side, and if all the illegals are forced out then the business owner will have to pay a bit higher wage which in turn develope a fair marketplace, no more undercutting because of cheap slave labor. I think you have it all wrong in keepijng the illegals here, and I think you are just one of those people who would rather see this great country go down the tubes because you like to hire cheap illeagal labor
