Yes they do have security. Not to effective though. The fights etc. are starting inside the mall and spilling over to the outside. Alot more goes on there than the media reports.

Sorry there "dreamer", the book has nothing to do with that at all. It is all about how a colony of peaceful, freed slaves survived, and interacted with whites in the area, then ultimately how the younger generations destroyed the colony by becoming increasingly more violent, and eventually disapeared completely by the 1950s.
