Why are you celebrating Christmas? Don't you see Christ's name in the holiday? I suggest you hold to you convictions and not celebrate, go to work. If your company is closed, the least that you can do is write a note to your boss relaying to him that you want nothing to do with Christmas. So let him know you are turning down any money for that day. Why should you pay me for a holiday that I do not believe in.
That will show the world that you stand on what you believe.(Marry Christmas)

A better question is, if you are a Christian, why are YOU celebrating it? Doesn't the bible tell believers not to take the customs of non-believers and to it celebrate their traditions? The entire celebration of christmas is taken from various pages holidays, from lighting a tree, to giving gifts. If fact, the timing is even due to the Roman holiday of Saturnalia (which celebrated the Roman god Saturn). When Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire, all attempts to put a stop to the festival of Saturnalia failed, so they decided instead to make it a celebration of the birth of Jesus. This is why Jehovah's Witness do not participate in holiday traditions, because they know the origins are based on the traditions of other cultures and is against the bible.

Amazing how christians seem to know less about their own religion than non-believers...

I wouldn't say that I celebrate Christmas in a religious sense. I participate in an exchange of gifts because doing so is family tradition. I will happily accept holiday pay on 12/25 because I need the money to pay for those gifts that I just gave away.

Trees, lights, ribbons, and Santa Claus are all pushed by retailers for the sole purpose of getting people to spend money. With the exceptions of a nativity scene or perhaps a star none of the things that are traditionally associated with December 25th have anything to do with Christianity.

Not all Christians celebrate Christmas a retailers holiday. In fact some teaches parents not to teach their children about Santa or believe in him. Jehovah's Witness are not alone.
