Gee, a booming illegal immigrant community and a rise in Hispanic street gangs, what could be the connection? Could it be a cultural disregard for any law that interferes with their self interests? Inviting and harboring illegals you've also opened the doors to all of the problems they cause, and they're just warming up. Frankfort will get used to LA style drivebys when they're an everyday occurrance. Welcome to the barrio.

Why can the authorities in lil ole Frankfort acknowledge gangs are real, but authorities in Indy are reluctant to. Oh yeah, they're just wannabees.

I was born and raised in Frankfort until we moved when I turned seven years old. I can't believe this could be happening there. Can you say "Illegal Immigration"?!!!

Re: the photo. I'm generally pretty pro-cop, but do we need to have officers strutting around with assault rifles and enough banana clips to relieve Khe Sahn? You've got a significant minority of the population that distrusts you, guys. Security is important, but maybe a little discretion is in order.

I lived in Frankfort for many years, and there are some really good hispanic folks that live there, are legal and stay to themselves. However; there was a problem then with 'gangs', it went below the radar, and now seems it has gotten worse.

If you don't want hispanic gangs in your neighborhood, then support your local law enforcement, and get rid of them.

It is the inalienable right of every Citizen of these United States of America to:

1. Bear Arms; and,
2. Make Citizen Arrests

Undocumented foreign nationals living in the United States of America do not have these rights.

Therefore, it is the duty of every Citizen of these United States of America to consider every undocumented person, regardless of race, creed or color, to be a potential threat to national security ,and using the Right to Bear Arms and the Right of Citizens Arrest, detain said undocumented person. Anyone making a Citizens Arrest should not use more force than is necessary, should not delay in turning the suspect over to the proper authorities, and should never mete out any punishment ... unless willing to face the consequences.

Learn to spell 'relieve Khe Sahn', move to Frankfort, become a policeman, face off with a Latino, and then decide if law enforcement should carry assault weapons.

More hispanics causing panic? Of course, go round up the usual suspects! Anyone with brown skin ought to do nicely.

Are the law enforcement smart enough to realize that the offenders are 'probably' illegal aliens, and will end up with very little jail time.

Truth...know the truth and do your research before you speak! Frankfort's ERT is just as educated and skilled as ANY Indianapolis squad...they are dealing and handling problems with the Latin Kings Gang. This is not something small... Frankfort is an in between city for them to reside between Chicago and Indianapolis. Think before you speak. I praise this officers for their hard work and the knowledge to keep themselves as well as the city safe. GOOD JOB FPD!!!

I agree 100% with the postings regarding the illegal immigrants. By coming here illegally they show an immediate disregard for our laws. Why should anything change once they're here? The more we can do to make illegals feel unwelcome the more we will do to support our own laws. I do not condone any inhumane treatment. We do not, however, need to cater to their lack of English comprehension and we certainly don't need to hire any of them. Learn English, get legal, or go home.

I say that if the court can connect any person on trial to a gang, instantly give them maximum sentence. then deport them immediately upon completion of sentence.

Accurate, concise, and incisive! Thanks to the ignorant "welcoming" people of Central Indiana who are so fearful of being looked upon as backwards, bigoted, and racist. As the saying goes, "The Highway to Hell is paved with good intentions". To all of you weak-kneed Hoosiers, the highway is now wide open. Such a foolish, self-destructive thing we are doing to ourselves. Just think what is in store for us by the year 2010...
