The salary on the coach only shows how up side down the State has our priorities.

The question? What are we going to do about it? Just complain?

M Palmer and others: university salaries are no more a "racket" than lawyer or broker or doctor salaries. They are set by market demand. Rising salaries may be a problem in a number of areas, but they are not specific to universities. If IU couldn't pay these salaries, then you can be sure they wouldn't have the personnel they need.

Of course, that might suit you fine, since your desire is probably to see the universities go away completely. Maybe some day your kind will triumph, and we will all slink back into the woods and muddy riverbanks...

.... this database demonstrates what a racket the Universities are. A private sector job, paying between $50 to $100,000 .... is considered to be a GOOD paying job. Go down the list, and look at all the university job positions paying in that range. But even more astounding, look at the 2422 jobs .... again, mostly university, that pay in the $100,000 to $250,000 range (plus fantastic benefits don't forget). I'd be willing to bet that 75% of these individuals, particularly the non-university state employees ..... if put out on the street to find a new job, would find little opportunity to make half of what the government gravy train is paying them."
