They produce entertainment, a basic human need. If you want a group that produces nothing, there's religion.

Generally, the weallthiest own the business that provides the jobs, and those companies usually provide something that the people need, or want. I didn't say Hollywood stars were the richest in the world, but they are better off than most, and for what? They produce nothing. They live in a world of make believe. I don't doubt that stars give to charities. I am sure some do, but, so do a lot of normal, less wealthy, and less visible people, which is exactly why we take exception when someone suggests that we should give up everything we have worked for to even the playing field.

I am not sure what they did to get it, but what does it matter to you? You want a piece of that action? I am sure you have your hands full managing your basement. BTW, I don't think any of the Chevrolet brothers are still on the payroll. I may be wrong because I do not waste my time on earth worrying about what everybody else is doing. Maybe you should try it. Just think Moe, a world with no rich people to pay taxes. You might have to come out of your cave and kill a squirrel for supper. You know, the way they did before things were this easy, and the days before "corporate America". Before rich people like the Tysons killed and cleaned your chickens. In reality, you have no idea what you want, why you want it, or what you would do if you got it. All you know is that some got dealt a better hand than you did, and you are letting it ruin your life. If you spent half the time you spend on here trying to better yourself, you might actually accomplish something. Much like the rest of the 99%.

So you think it is ok for a corp exec to make 140 million per year, and thousands of subcontractors make min. wage.

It is because of people like you that we don't have a middle class. Just masters and slaves.

You right wing retards convince yourself you are going to be rich someday. You want your guns, because you have the fantasy of killing and being a hero someday. You believe the fantasy of trickle down and cut ting taxes makes everyone richer. You fantasize about hurting a gay person and laughing. You fantasize about pro-life and enslaving pregnant women to make more worker slaves, why you enjoy watch a daily execution. You fantasize that gays will go away if you make it illegal or ignore them. You fantasy about never getting old, sick, and disabled and kick and stomp to people who are.

You repubs make me sick. If anyone believes the likes of you and the tea baggers are going to make it better your are committing crimes against humanity and will one day have to face judgement. You my "friend" are a goat and you will sit at the right foot of Satan in Hell.

You are an ignorant pervert and one day you will regret the beliefs you hold dear now. I now I did.

The wealth of the richest 1% in the world is now 65 times the total wealth of the bottom half of the world's people, Oxfam says.

The combined wealth of the world's richest 85 people is now equivalent to that owned by half of the world's population – or 3.5 billion of the poorest people – according to a new report from Oxfam.

In a report titled "Working for the Few" released Monday, the global aid and development organization detailed the extent of global economic inequality created by the rapidly increasing wealth of the richest, warning of the major risks it poses to "human progress."

According to the report, 210 people have become billionaires in the past year, joining a select group of 1,426 individuals with a combined net worth of $5.4 trillion.

It added that the wealth of the richest one percent of people in the world now amounts to $110 trillion, or 65 times the total wealth of the bottom half of the world's population.

"This massive concentration of economic resources in the hands of fewer people presents a significant threat to inclusive political and economic systems," the report said.

"Instead of moving forward together, people are increasingly separated by economic and political power, inevitably heightening social tensions and increasing the risk of societal breakdown," it added.

Pretty much everything you said is untrue about me, except the part about me aspiring to be better off than I am now. Something you should look into. On another note, If I own a large herd of cattle, and everyone wants steak, I am going to make a lot of money. I am also going to put food on the table of others because I can't feed, slaughter and butcher all that beef by myself. I have to pay someone. Now, if you are suggesting that everyone involved in the entire process should have the exact same share of the profit, that is ridiculous. Communism is basically what you are advocating, and if you look at the countries that are under communist rule, nobody has anything. If you are suggesting that since you don't have anything, nobody should have anything, that is nothing more than childhood toy envy that you never outgrew.

Your president got elected, and is working on his second term, and you are disillusioned because you thought that he was going to be your Robin Hood, and it hasn't happened. That is what this is really all about.

First of all, you tow the line for the rich republican and repeat their propaganda about communism. You only believe what they told you. It does not make it factual. Seems China is doing okay.

If you want pure capitalism, you are advocating criminal behavior. Why don't you just sell dope or become a hit man? There is a good market for each and the pay is good. You could probably make a good living cleaning adult toys.

Explore the world. Study the governments. Read the Bible or study some morals and train yourself in ethical behavior.

Have you ever stopped to think what the great Chinese society would be like if it weren't for billions of American captitalism dollars through imports and exports? Do you think that there aren't poor, hungry people in China, in contrast to the wealthy ruling class? Does Mr. Jinping's family have the same income as the 12 year old girl making tennis shoes? Did you know that there are people in N. Korea that are starving while their leader is paying a washed up NBA star to play exhibition games? I really don't understand the fundamentals of your vision. Should everything on this earth be divided equally among the inhabitants? I still feel like it isn't about what's fair for everyone that bothers you. I feel that it is all about what you do, or don't have that drives your rationality.

Remember when Reagan, the holy one, let the murder of 200 marines slide? He is your ilk.

Hillary will be a great President and will bring toughness and sanity. I hope she stomps out the destructive philosophy of tea bagging.

This originally appeared on Robert Reich's blog .

Occasionally David Brooks, who personifies the oxymoron “conservative thinker” better than anyone I know, displays such profound ignorance that a rejoinder is necessary lest his illogic permanently pollute public debate. Such is the case with his New York Times column last Friday, arguing that we should be focusing on the “interrelated social problems of the poor” rather than on inequality, and that the two are fundamentally distinct.

Baloney.

First, when almost all the gains from growth go to the top, as they have for the last thirty years, the middle class doesn’t have the purchasing power necessary for buoyant growth.

Once the middle class has exhausted all its coping mechanisms – wives and mothers surging into paid work (as they did in the 1970s and 1980s), longer working hours (which characterized the 1990s), and deep indebtedness (2002 to 2008)– the inevitable result is fewer jobs and slow growth, as we continue to experience.

Few jobs and slow growth hit the poor especially hard because they’re the first to be fired, last to be hired, and most likely to bear the brunt of declining wages and benefits.

Second, when the middle class is stressed, it has a harder time being generous to those in need. The “interrelated social problems” of the poor presumably will require some money, but the fiscal cupboard is bare. And because the middle class is so financially insecure, it doesn’t want to, nor does it feel it can afford to, pay more in taxes.

Third, America’s shrinking middle class also hobbles upward mobility. Not only is there less money for good schools, job training, and social services, but the poor face a more difficult challenge moving upward because the income ladder is far longer than it used to be, and its middle rungs have disappeared.

Brooks also argues that we should not be talking about unequal political power, because such utterances cause divisiveness and make it harder to reach political consensus over what to do for the poor.

Hogwash. The concentration of power at the top — which flows largely from the concentration of income and wealth there — has prevented Washington from dealing with the problems of the poor and the middle class.

I don't remember that Reagan actually "let it slide". There were many that were against any form of retaliation because of lack of solid evidence of who was responsible. However, it was known as an act of terrorism, and to the best of my knowledge, no lies were told, nobody lost their job over it, no cover up was attempted and no US citizens were blamed. Other than all that, yeah, the 1983 attack, and the 2012 attack are similar.

Oh yeah, one more thing. In 1983, nobody said, "what difference does it make?".

Exactly! That is why you're jealous of President Obama. Obama has earned his place and success by having a superlative work ethic and sharp business acumen.

He is more successful then you.

He has more intellect than you.

He can satisfy your woman sexually.

So quit whining about him.

Now,get back to bouncing balloons and coloring books with your girlfriend. Ya know, the one you met when she was a 8 years old and you were 41 years old. The one you refuse to marry because you're living the wasteful lifestyle of a hippy from the 60's..
