"The case progressed quickly. The first in-home visit since March was on Oct. 10. Kochel, the counselor, recommended overnight visits, which began on Oct. 24.
The 30-day trial began Oct. 31, and Friday’s report expresses concern that the visits had been ramped up too quickly, with too little scrutiny."

I would love to know how the hell it progressed to the 30 day overnight visits so fast!! With all the proof of abuse it should have taken a lot longer!! I knew a man that lost his kids due to neglect because he drank too much (he wasn't abusive, he was just drinking too much and passed out a lot, I am the one that took care of his kids during the times that he was drunk and passed out until I got too ill to do it myself, then I called for help and regret it to this day) They took his kids in January, after he completed the classes and therapy, it was April before he got home visits and those where just a couple hours once a week. Then he screwed up and started drinking again and they stopped the visits. I found his mother's phone number last month and called her to check on them. As far as she knows, he moved back to California and gave up getting the kids back, the children's mother was back in jail again (she's an alcholic as well). The children were giving back to the mother just to be taken away again when she started drinking but it took 5 or 6 months for her to get them back. Once she was in jail again, they were adopted out as far as their grandmother knows. These children were not abused and yet they were taken away for neglect and it took many months before they even got home visits that were only a couple hours. How did this person that they proved abused their daugther get overnight visits so fast? That doesn't make any sense to me!!!!

I have a question ..

"A DCS internal investigation found frequent gaps in information-sharing — between case workers and partners involved in TaJanay’s case, and with police."

"Partners" ??????

Someone please explain ---- What or who were these "partners"????

The king is done with it. What a shame the loss of a little girl. We can and should do better than this in Indiana. The king and his court needs to go.

Man I need to get a job like that, you make a major mistake, a child is murdered and no punishment, did they even get a letter of reprimand in there file?
The job I have even if the mistake never leaves the building I could face huge fines and the possibility of losing my license. Good thing they did there own investigation and cover up for one another. How do you people sleep at night?

Payne needs to be relieved of his duties. To say that there needs to be no disciplinary action is cold and just wrong.

DCS supervisor LaQuita Thomas-Trabue needs to either be reassigned or let go all together. Any supervisor that that thinks she has a better handle on the situation sitting at her desk as opposed to listening to the ones on the street and in TaJanay's apartment no longer deserves to hold that position.

DCS needed to make some statement or take some action to try and BEGIN to regain the trust of the public. This outlandish white-washing won't come close. Come on, politicians, do ther right thing and make the hard choices Payne chose not to make.

Yes, it is sad and tragic that this young child died too soon. And there are lessons to be learned from her untimely death. But calling for heads on a platter will not bring her back. Where were those who rally now to defense of her name and memory? How perfect is their judgement and behavior? Where are the saints among us? In truth, we forsake our humanity again when we raise our voices so quickly in blame rather then sharing our compassion, love, and forgiveness. It saddens me to see a child's memory used so to further a political agenda. TaJanay deserves better. Why not lift TaJanay in death as we might have while she was living, so her life... and death... serve a greater purpose. Call not for the heads of kings. Make peace by finding a troubled or endangered child, one who has parents like TaJanaky's, or better yet, who has a single parent or none at all. Find a way to help raise this child, and you will have conquered the evil that took TaJanay from us too soon.

Lets put all the blame on the parents, not the system. The so called Attorney General should have a outside investigation. Not a bunch of goonies that are political motivated. It shows that there is something wrong with this situation. This little girl would have still been alive, if you leave the political system out of this, somebody beside the parents should be held liable. GET RID OF DANIELS AND HIS APPOINTED GOONIES. Also call your congressman or e-mail and tell them we don't want a czar elected to run our counties. It is up to the people who they want to run our counties. Look at the situation in Washington. Everybody is scared to talk against the goonies in the White House. This is just what has happen here in Indiana. I agree with the old Indian saying (White man speak with a forked tongue).

This is a real crock of crap. Put some money into DCS. Pay some highly trained people to run this organization. These case workers make sqat. They hire people for minimal wages and very little training. If the children were removed in the first place these parents would have had to have jobs before getting these kids back and a whole lot more supervised visitatation. I see all kinds of red flags through the whole story. This little girl putting her head down and saying Yes sir Daddy at her age yeah right. Toughen up DCS and do your job. You Neglected this little girl and her little brother. Do your job Supervisors get out of your office and get into these homes.Remember these pieces of shit are everywhere. If you get your kids back because of abuse and neglect seems like your rights should be very minimal. It would take a lot of rehabilitation for someone who put their hands on a small child. I am not even sure I would ever return the child. There is no excuse for hurting a baby. None and if you do it once there is reason to believe you will do it again. You failed this child. Bad call who cares if they ever get another chance with the child. No wonder so many older children don't yell out they are being abused for the fear that they will have to go back to that and it will only be worse on them. Quit wasting money on other things and put it into this organization so that we may get some highly trained professionals. Hats off to all the Parents and foster parents out there who truly care about these kids.

Save it for the Sunday sermon. A child died, yet everyone did their job correctly... despite every signal screaming at them. It will continue until there are ramifications for your actions in local govt.

Pathetic, government that is unaccountable is government we don't need. A little girl dies nad the agency responsible for looking out for her had a communication breakdown. I guess if you witness a murder in the making you should go to lunch.

Every last one of them from DCS to Daniels ought to be brought up on accessory to MURDER charges.
If you have not figured it out, many of these children who should be taken away aren't; and those who should not are.
It seems as though if you fight to get your children back and do everything that they ask of you, you will not get your kid(s) back. The opposite holds true, if you do very little to get your kid(s) back, then they hand them to you on a SILVER PLATTER. What is wrong with this picture.
Since Daniels has now began to contract out DCS, unfortunately; I guarantee that we will see many more TaJanay Bailey's. Because of his arrogance and desire to erradicate all of the poor and innocent.

It is so interesting how the Emperor investigates himself and his subjects.
There never was a doubt in my mind he would find what he found; he is a lawyer. Did people really think he would find negligence on his own staff and provide a foundation for lawsuits and criminal actions. Come on now. The internal investigation is Negligence at its finest.
Sorry, but I cannot swallow this report. The report makes me even more suspicious of the SYSTEM.

It is neither the people or the system who sent this little girl to her death. It is the thought process.

We have long been in love with this marvelous notion that abusive parents can somehow be taught to change their ways and become loving, caring and nuturing. It rarely happens.

I was removed from my abusive father four times ... and despite my pleas I was returned to my "natural" home after counseling sessions, parenting classes and all of the other fantasy producing programs our social workers could conjure up. Each time the physical abuse got worse a short time after my return.

Finally, as a junior in high school, I decided the next time I got hit, I'd hit back. Short term result: broken jaw and cracked ribs. Long term result: never had to return again ... finally!

I spent my last two high school years with loving foster parents who my children call "grandma and grandpa" today.

Reunification is just a dream. Once parents abuse a child they will always abuse a child. Returning this sweet, wounded little girl to that abysmal home was nothing more than setting the timer on a bomb.

Pitiful.

Abusers do not deserve third and fourth chances. And abused children certainly do not deserve the hell they are forced to live in while social workers worship at the altar of reunification. Protect the kids!!!
