Clete Ladd is right on. mari Evans is an unheralded icon locally, but she is lauded and loved internattionally. Shame of Indy Star and USA Today; can barely tell these papers apart anymore.

Maya Angelou stated that Indianapolis' own Mari Evans was her long term mentor. Sad that few recognize the most talented essayist, poet ad political write of our times. She ranks with the Kurt Vonnegut and James Whitcomb Riley as among Indiana's three greatest writers.
