Does anyone else remember the safety song?
They used to play it every morning and different guest singers could come into the studio to perform it. My mom was in a "kitchen band" where they all had instruments made out of various household items with kazoos attached to them. They went to WOWO and recorded their version of this song. Here are some of the words I remember: "Look both ways before you cross the street and always wait until the light turns green Never play between the standing cars but in the open where you can be seen Thoughtfulness to others will always pay as you can plainly see But forgetting others someone everyday kills a happy girl or boy like me"....... |

Just ran across this post. Didn't realize Mr. Sievers had died, as I've been away from northern Indiana for a long time. Reading all the comments sure did bring back memories of growing up in Garrett in the '60s, however. Life takes you down unexpected paths, and I live in England now ... but I remember all the DJs you mentioned, plus a few more ... Jack Underwood, Don Chevelet, Bob Dell, Ed Karr, Dick Rice, and later, Ron Gregory and Calvin Richards. All voices I grew up with. I was very sorry to read of Bob Sievers' death, but pleased he made such a good age, and gratified by all the memories stirred by the postings. All best to all of you in and from the Tri-State area! |

Who was the DJ who picked a post-card and played the person's personal top-10 favorite songs? Was this on WOWO back in the early 60's?

I grew up with the gang at WOWO literally. My father was an engineer for them and then their Tech. Supervisor until his death in the late 70's. It was interesting reading all these posts..a great many memories came flooding back...RIP Bob and the rest of the 60's and 70's gang who have gone home.
