Anybody that rides an amusement park ride is taking their life in their hands. Are a few seconds of thrill worth your life or physical well-being? Stay on the ground.

This is so sad. It is especially sad the way people shun her and make fun of her. It should also be a lesson to those operating amusement parks that they need EXPERIENCED people running the rides - not teenagers, even if they are "young adults."

a thrill ride is designed to thrill, not to cause injury. you, my friend, are a rude and inconsiderate person. crawl back into your hole.

Have to feel sorry for the girl. It sounds like a terrible experience that won't go away. The amusement park operators attract customers with at least the implied promise of taking people to the edge, with death being just around the corner. Sometimes it actually is.

That is so sad. I hope her family wins the law suit and she is able to get all the help she needs to live as normally as possible.

A thrill ride is inherently unsafe. While I choose never to ride one, I'd be happy for you in particular to ride one.

So when a pilot flies a plane, or an astronaut goes to space, that means if they die it's their own fault, they should of just stayed on the ground. This little girl went to an Amusment Park. Not a Death Park. Give me a break. You are heartless, and I hope that your children never have to experience what this child has had to go through.

How sad her friends treat her differently. Hard to believe anyone would make fun of this beautiful girl. Thoughts and prayers to her and her family, what a horrible story.

What are you, an insurance company executive? So what you're saying is, you think that a 14 year-old girl who just wanted to have fun at the amusement park deserves to be an amputee? I bet you're also one of those of inferior intellect who would make fun of someone in this condition. There truly is a special room in h3ll for people like you, and I think many of us would find a great deal of satisfaction in sending you there...slowly...with a length of steel cable...perhaps like the kind that came off that ride. Oh, and you're a pompous jerk.

Fishers Tigers - Maybe you should make your rude and negative comments elsewhere. This forum is no place for such comments.

Dear Kaitlyn,
You shall be constantly in my prayers. I can't imagine that anyone would be crass enough to make fun of you. And those who don't call on you are only shallow hulls. However, they also nee prayer. God bless you; you are an example of strength and of knowing what really matters to th rest of us. God bless you

You actually have a bettter chance at dying or being injured driving on the way to an amusement park than actually dying on a ride there.

But that's beside the case.
This is a really sad story, and I hope she's able to recover and maintain a positive attitude throughout the rest of her childhood.

This event is certainly a tragedy. As cute as that girl looks in the picture, the boys not calling her is their tragedy.

Dear Kaitlyn,
I do not presume to understand the trials that you are currently facing. But, as a child, I spent most of my time in and out of hospitals for corrective surgury for a congenital birth defect. Including an amputation of one of my toes. Don't listen to those who want to pick on you. You are far stronger than they will ever be for facing this situation. You are not missing the important years of a girls life, your life has just taken a different path than others, and because of that you will be able to face anything that comes your way. Stay strong and keep smiling, the only limitations that you have are the ones that you place upon yourself.
Sincerely,
J. Edwards
