Never eat at a national chain Mexican restuarant.

El Meson at Emerson and County line road on the south side. Great service, great food at good prices and plenty of it!!

Three words - Cheap Junk Food! And it's not just on the eastside. Drive to 146th and Meridian and you'll find the same thing. There are places where people just prefer to spend their money on fast food. Ironically, these also seem to be areas where there are more corpulent customers.

For REAL authentic Mexican food that is AWESOME, try "El Jaripeo" located just east of Washington Square next to the MOVIES 8. We used to go to Don Pablos regularly, but started going here because the prices are very reasonable, and the food is great, and you get lots of it.

The only bummer about Don Pablos is that we have another empty building on the east side. Turn it into another restaurant! Please - no more fluorescent red or mustard yellow firework stores!

Don Pablo's was one of our favorite places to go...we ate in there enough that the waiters and waitresses knew us and we recieved good service...then we noticed the servers were leaving because business was down...so was the food...you never knew if it would be edible or not...and the new people didn't seem to care about what you thought. This seems to be a whole lot of the problem on the eastside, the service is bad and the management doesn't seem to care. You can overlook crappy food sometime if the service is great...but when both are bad you go elsewhere. The Bob Evans next door will probably be the next to go!

DP's sucks. If you want good Mexican food go to Abuelo's near W 86th and 465. Same price as DP's but tastes so much better...

I liked the Don Pablos on W 38th & 465. It just closed, too. I wonder why the star didn't mention it.
On Dec. 18, the Mexican chain closed its eatery at East Washington Street and I-465 as well as another at 6929 W. 38th St.

Do you people just simply not know how to read? Or do you just read the headlines?
6929 WEST 38th St. WOULD be at 38th & I-465.

Geesh.

dont forget the cell phone stores and mattress stores

Maybe they could knock down the Chi Chi's and Don Pablo's buildings and put up another mini-mall there. What the Eastside lacks is a mini-mall with a nail salon, check cashing, and a liquor store. A place like that could really take off!

Oh well, another gringo mexican joint will take its place....like On The Border. There are too many good real mexican joints in town. I can't remember the last time I even went to a Don Pablo.

the eastside blight should be short-lived because of the great customer service of the remaining and newly opened businesses. a great place to hang-out, SHOP and do business!

fireworks outlet or auto parts store perhaps? That's all that seems to want to open on E. Washington.
Don't forget pawn shops, liquor stores, rent-to-own
joints, cell phone stores, and nail salons. then you can go to Washington Square
and if you don't get shot in the parking lot, there's plenty of "bling-bling" stores and a fast-food, spicy chicken wing, place - classy classy!!

LOL Short-lived? It's been a blight for over 30 years! Nobody wants to stop there long enough to get car-jacked, much less hang out or shop! Your best bet is to just stay on the interstate.

We actually loved eating at Don Pablo's every few months or so and are bummed it closed. East Washington is a hole sadly.
