In the end, Carmel's offense didn't have to rely on the strong arm of quarterback Morgan Newton, the soft hands of receiver Jordan Brewer or the swift legs of backs Kurt Freytag and Aaron King. Read more

Re-read the post. I never said it cost them the game. Geez, you'd think an area like Carmel would have more intellegent residents.
Have trouble spelling zombie?? In regards to your post, after I re-read it, exactly what was your point anyway? Simply hopping on the bandwagon to bash the referees? You mentioned one non call? Is that all? And to call the officials names? I hope that you will be signing up and wearing the black and white stripes in the upcoming season. You might find that it is far easier to point out mistakes from the stands and comtemplate what you WOULD have done until you are right down there in the action. It's the same concept in coaching, EVERYONE thinks they have the answer and believe me I have sat in the stands and heard many many people voicing their opinions and most of the time they have no idea what they are talking about!!! Again, it's easier to throw stones but rest assured that the officials didn't blatantly miss calls.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but I am not from Carmel. I just get irritated when people really believe that the officials cost a team a game!! The don't call the plays, execute or try to execute the plays or make the turnovers that truly can cost a team a victory.

Terrible and ficticious post, on all counts. Not that it matters, but the Carmel fans were much louder as an observer who watched on tv. However......that is probably because they of course paid the network to pump in artificial crowd noise into the broadcast with the left over bribe money they gave to the refs. Clearly that was the case. Tissue.
Actually Carmel does pump in noise on their home field so I'm sure they coulda worked it out to do it at the dome too! And I KNOW FOR A FACT that they pump in noise at their home stadium so before all you desperate housewives and meth-heads from Carmel come in here shouting foul...go back to bed & save your energy & brainpower for when the soaps come on.

Are you kidding me!!!! Refs are the scum of the earth??? Do you hear yourself? What do you do for a living, I can think of far worse jobs that could be construed as scum of the earth!!! You are very ignorant in your thinking. I do know the officials and I can tell you that they didn't get up in the morning with the thought of "cheating kids" It drives me nuts when people make these ridiculous comments. I hope to see you out there with a black and white shirt on because obviously you can do a better job. It is always far easier to say what you WOULD do when you are sitting in your comfy seat in stands but in the heat of the moment when you have to make a snap decision try that one on. The officials called a sound game whether you like it or not.
Go take off your black & white shirt & your whistle & hang it up please...thanks!

Sorry, I'm not an official!! But I am sick and tired of people like you that always point fingers. You probably are a blame thrower in every aspect of your life also. It's either the officials (because they actually play in the game) or the coaches. Did you actually watch the game? If you did, you would have seen two teams that played less than average. I get extremely irritated with the name calling!! Calling refs the scum of the earth was a bit extreme. They are people too, if you hadn't thought of that, and they do the best job they can. It is far easier sitting in the stands and complaining and griping. Believe me, I have heard everything and I am always amazed at the language and the use of name calling that come out of grown adults mouths. You set such a fine example with your name calling and your ridiculous thoughts. One day your day will come.

Oh yes, all of the opposing teams audibles are really thrown off by the 'noise pumping'. Hate to break it to you and your conspiracy theory but even if they did it wouldn't change a thing.

People around this city criticize Carmel as not being diversified enough, when it is those same people that have an even more difficult time accepting people that come from Carmel, Carmel High School, etc. That is the flat out truth, nothing that you or anybody else says can dispute that. If a kid goes off to college and is asked where he went to high school, and he says Carmel, he is IMMEDIATELY hit with a stereotype. If Carmel had 2,500 students, was mostly a middle-class town and had a limited amount of academic and athletic tradition, people wouldn't have an opinion abuot Carmel one way or another. The Carmel complex is alive and strong down here.
As for the Illinois schools mentioned... mostly all white, all big, all have a lot of money, almost all have a great athletic tradition...yet they are not the target of relentless attacks for who they are and where they are from. A couple of years back Glenbrook North (large white school from Northbrook - more money than Carmel could even dream of) played a mostly all black, smaller, middle class school for the AA Boy's basketball title. I was at that game, and there was absolutely ZERO sterotyping, hateful comments, snide comments about the rich white kids from the big school, no comments about how the refs called the game in favor of the all mighty rich white school with Bruce Webber's brother as the head coach. Similar arguement can be said for the private schools. Up there they are admired, down here they are called cheaters. Down here it is different, 180% different, and for all the wrong reasons, whether you want to admit it or not. If you are successful, there must be shady reasons behind it, especially if you are a private school or Carmel High. As for your (the other bonehead) arguement regarding population density...Illinois has 5 public high school with over 4,000 kids. Indiana has 2, with a 3rd at 3,900 students. Thus, the concept of "the largest schools" is still relevant. Even you can understand that.
That's just blatantly not true about the Illinois game, I was there and there was plenty of name calling!! From Honky to ghetto thugs, to th3 "N" word. Speak of what you know!

You people kill me! The nastiness that I have read through these posts is amazing. First of all, Carmel won, Pike lost. Congrats to both teams. Secondly, the Carmel fans are not ever going to convince the non-Carmel fans that they don't recruit and the non-Carmel fans are never going to convince the Carmel fans that they do. It is all of opinion right now, and if you think it is not, come up with proof. Someone moving to attend another high school is not proof of recruiting. About the refs... I would like to see one team that has ever lost a game say that the refs were really good. Refs make mistakes because they are human beings and they have a split second to call what they see. I have never been a football ref, but have taken my shot at volleyball and basketball. It is very difficult to do. No matter what the call is, it is a bad one for the team that committed it and a good one for the other team. Bad calls are part of the game, just like turnovers, missed opportunities, bad play selection, and any other mistake. Good teams have ways to overcome those mistakes. I don't remember what coach said it, but he admitted that bad calls are part of the game, and if your team is in a position where a bad call affects the outcome, you did not do your job. So, let's congratulate these kids for a great season, and get on with our lives. Bashing does absolutely nothing good for anyone. Almost all the posts on here are personal opinions anyway. Clint Eastwood's character said it best in the movie Sudden Impact..."opionions are like a**holes, everybody has one". My personal corrollary to that is..."mine is the only one that doesn't stink!".
For those of you who think referees are all idiots, please sign up to be one and see what it is like. You will change your outlook, I guarantee. You may not agree with the referee's calls, but it may give you more insight as to what it all involves. Again, I reiterate my final thought...Carmel won, Pike lost. No ranting, bashing, complaining, or finger pointing is going to change that. That's my opinion!

I agree. I just don't understand why people have to be so mean. I also don't understand why people have to sterotype every city. There are always a couple of bad eggs, but that dosn't mean the majority is like that. Congrats to both teams for making it that far. I know they both worked hard.

Pay attention. All I was saying was you have to count more than just the actual yardage of the penalty when trying to determine how much a call costs a team.
