There really needs to be accountability for this. Officers should exercise common sense and should have called DCS anyway.

Regardless of what laws, policies or programs are put in place there still needs to be human accountability. Getting the government out of micro-managing families would be a good start.

This a step in the right direction. The police need all the info, they are to help. They are not social workers,or mind readers.

You are correct it is not the governments responsibility to care for these children however; DCS was already involved with the family. We do not know if the call to the police 2 days prior to T's death could/would have saved her precious little life but this is just one more avenue to hopefully prevent another such death. Considering the headlines and the lack of story it does not seem like it is working. I fault the mother and boyfriend first and foremost then I lay blame on the system that failed to protect T because if all I am reading is correct the SYSTEM failed her which allowed her mother and friend to kill her.

Notice how the story is not that a child died. The story is about how a government system did save the child's life. Children dying at the hands of their parents is no longer a shoking story. We have become too complacent. What sad times.

You're all wet; virtually all publications use spellcheck, that's the problem. Spellcheck ain't perfect. Flush spellcheck and bring back living, breathing proofreaders.

"Indianapolis police are investigating the death of a child at a home where a new dispatching program identified the family as having a history with the Department of Child Services, according to an IMPD spokesman."

What concerns you most, another child dies in this first rate sports city or or the way that someone put it in print. Like many I think you should get your priorities turn around a little.
what exactly is wrong

You have to really mess up to have your children taken away from you. I feel like once they have been taken away - do not give them back. That would prevent some of these deaths anyway. So sad for these little children who cannot defend themselves from the very people who should be protecting them in the first place.

I was beginning to wonder if any one caught the fact that this is yet another death. When will all this end? How many detectives have been assigned to this tragedy?

It's sad that another child is dead due to the irresponsibility of the parent. People need to be held accountable for their "bad choice's".
By no means is it the duty of the government to handle family matter's. The most ignorant thing to ever come out of Hillary Clintons' mouth was "it takes a village to raise a child". No, it takes parent's to raise a child. She has been trying for year's to make this a socialist country, something the honest hard-working taxpayer does not want.

this truly shows that no matter if a family is involved with DCS, a child was killed. just think of all the parents that are involved with DCS and put on a false front. I'm glad that IMPD is now informed whether or not a family is involved with DCS, but the bottom line is that some people are just evil and will never change no matter if they are involved with a government agency or not

Absolutely. These parents need to be drug tested if they are receiving benefits or have social services involved with their parenting. Failed drug test-no benefits and move the child to a safe place.

The Big Gov. push for Reunification. Can only result in a much higher death rate of helpless children. Indiana is allowed to enforce the cruelty to animals! But not helpless ,defensless Children! Talk about In humane!
