Does anyone know how I go about signing up for the "Shop With a Cop" Christmas program or any other Christmas help? I have a 5yr old little boy, and I'm laid off from my job. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

you people should stop being a**holes. this lady is just asking for help for her child. how would you feel if you were that situation. what would you do if you lost your job right now? i think we all know with the way things are right now you are not going to find another one right away. how would you feel if you could not buy christmas for your child.

or maybe you have perfect little life and don't live in the real world. if having a perfect life means downing and making fun of others who are doing with out, i will keep the life i have.

QUIT BEING SELFISH AND GET UP OFF YOUR ASS AND GO OUT AND FIND SOMEONE TO HELP. IT MIGHT MAKE YOU FEEL WORTH SOMETHING.

I totally agree. The internet affords these people anonymity which allows them to act out on their evil little urges, and it is sad. I'm sure that not one of the people shouting "get a job" have ever had to ask for help. Allow me to paraphrase a bit, and say, "May he who has never asked for help throw the first mean comment."

I don't blame this woman for asking, everyone needs somewhere to turn , for something, at some time. People have to ask for help at times, be it whatever. BUT after having tried to live my life helping those in need and spending countless dollars and time in that effort only to have it come back to bite me in the a@@, don't ask ME for one g-d*** thing. Too hard anymore to tell a decent person, down on their luck, from a loser who's just out to get anything they can for Free.

Call 2-1-1. That is a social service help line. They have the info on that and other Christmas and Thanksgiving help.

Ugh, I agree. We helped a lady and her family one year and they didn't even say thank you. It's almost like they just expected "everything." Very disheartening when you know you are trying to do something good and the kids don't even act happy for what they were given, which were clothes, hats, gloves and toys. Not to mention clothes for the parents and lots of food for their table. I know that everyone doesn't act this way, but no one should act this way when they are being handed hundreds of dollars worth of food, clothing and toys.

It's too bad you had that experience; hopefully karma will pay you back for your generosity!

my best friend and i saved our bingo ticket winnings. you would be surprized how two four and five dollar wins add up. there was even a twentyfiver. anyway, we were able to give a gasoline card, buy dogfood for his dog, get the dogs heartworm medicine, get a grocery card, and a flannel shirt to this disabled vet without legs. he was so thankfull, and so, this viet nam vet had a decent holiday. he has passed away, but maybe we made a small difference when he was alive.

That's wonderful! What may seem like a small gesture to you can make a world of difference to someone else. I'm a believer of "paying it forward!"
