Daniels couldn't save a fish from drowning, although he'd try.

Well, it's past midnight here in IN, and there are no flying christians in the sky. Stay tuned for sudden revisions based on some obscure passage from revelation.

Hello!!
I've been doing this for 15 years, and live in the Bible most of my waking moments. The seals are being opened. Daniel 12:4,9-10
4 But thous, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

I asked this several times in this thread. I ask now again.

What is the excuse?

Where are all the false prophets to apologize for trying to scare the world?

Come on people, where are you? Too ashamed to show?

That's what I've been doing. Topix has been the last thing on my mind. The disappointment is of a much larger magnitude. I get paid by no one for what I do.

I very much regret promoting an End Time date I trusted that proved inaccurate, and apologize for all that believed and suffered the consequences. I would prefer to spread an End Time message without a date.

These are just a few of the questions that speak for many of the supporters, and the reason the Latter Rain site is going down.

Ray Kicklighter and Latter Rain:

I have been receiving emails from individuals that, in general, are all asking the same kinds of questions (questions from individuals on both sides of the matter). They are certainly fair questions and so I've posted the most common ones here with my responses. Please understand that I'm feeling confused and not sure what to think, but I feel providing some kind of response to these questions is the appropriate thing to do.

"Will your ego allow you to admit you were wrong?"

There has never been any pride in any of this. I sincerely believed the rapture would take place on May 21. I presented this information on the Internet because of verses like Joel 2:1 which commands us to "sound the alarm" and Ezekiel 33:3 which says to "warn the people". I did this anonymously because this isn't about me. I didn't solicit donations or offer anything for sale because this isn't about money either. It was about declaring a warning out of love for my fellow man. When you see something horrible coming, if you care about someone you warn them. There was never a goal to gain money, fame, or notoriety out of this website. Obviously, those of us who felt the rapture would take place on May 21 were wrong. As a Bible student, when I discover that I've held a wrong conclusion, I must accept that fact if I want to continue to grow in truth because "God resisteth the proud" (1 Peter 5:5).

"So, how does it feel to be wrong?"

Really this question is asked because it is enjoyable for some to hear about another person's difficulties. However, I've put myself in this position so I'll do the fair thing and answer the question. The May 21 conclusion was the result of many, many layers of information all fitting together. This is why we were so convinced about it. Contrary to what the media has portrayed, this wasn't just a matter of crunching numbers. However, there is certainly an error somewhere in my understanding of Scripture and I'm concerned about the fact that I don't know where that is. So, I feel confused, but how I feel is ultimately irrelevant.

"Are you going to take your website down?"

I thought about just taking the down the studies on the timing of the end. However, after additional thought, I don't feel comfortable leaving the website up when I don't know exactly where the error is, or multiple errors if that is the case. I didn't put this website together with the intent to mislead anyone. A lot of time was spent studying this matter and I truly believed the rapture was going to take place on May 21. I don't want to continue to inadvertently present falsehoods, and since I don't know where those errors are right now I'm taking the entire website down.

Harold Camper is the one who deceived people and took their money. He took advantage of weak minded (no offense) people who are desperate to get out of this life. I believe he found the perfect scam. Think about it. He predicts the end of the world at a time when he woudl be 89. My guess is he didn't plan on living this long. The only way he can get into legal trouble is if his prediction doesn't come true (it didn't). So, he gets to live out his life as a millionaire because people actually bought junk and donated money.
You have been victimized ET. Maybe you didn't donate money (which is what I expect you to say) but a lot did (almost $20M per year). His company has $104M worth of assets. You did however donate a lot of time to this cause.
I won't make fun of you because I believe you meant well and believe what you preach. That doesn't mean it's right though.
Good luck to you ET. I expect I will still see you around the Topix universe.

Yer closer than you think. Recent technology (PET scans and other real-time brain imaging) has shown that the parts of the brain in action when perceiving pleasure are essentially the same ones in action when perceiving a sense of anticipation. Pleasure = anticipation. Cogitate on that for a while. The brain gets addicted to anything that turns the crank on pleasure/anticipation, whether it's a chemical directly, or a thought process that causes its own chemicals to produce that effect.

What more exciting thing to anticipate, than an 'end of the world' scenario where you believe that all your troubles will end, all your fears will become irrelevant, all your enemies (or at least those defined by their different religious beliefs) will be cast into a different place than you, and you will be given immortality?

WANTING to believe in that fairy-story, like WANTING to believe in any fairy story that promises you big rewards (in the form of money, 72 virgins, immortality, vindication, etc.) is a lot more exciting/titillating/addicting than simply accepting that the world is a difficult place as it is, and that there's not a big cosmic escape-clause/END statement/grand finale spectacle to look forward to. Faith feeds an addiction.

To End Times; Its is sad that people goes around telling others something that isn't true. If only Christian's would just listen to what Gods word is saying to them. They wouldn't look so foolish to others on these threads. Yes you will have Satan and his children on here to make fun and mock you.
But myself I can only tell you don't walk with people who claims to be Christian and goes around telling lies about the end times, just to make a lot of money from it. These people will be judge real hard from God. I have been in the word of God all my life, and I live by the word of God. So I know as a fact what is true and what isn't. I tell people this if it isn't in the Bible trash it. Because that is all its worth nothing but trash. The Preacherman
