The same family that owns the Indy East that refuses to close their doors is going to be given permission to build another hotel??

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Not to mention the other dumps they own all over the city.

This should be investigated.

Aren't there already 5 or 6 hotels at that intersection? How many of these old hotels turn into thief infested rat traps?

I think that they should build the biggest jail they can on the old sight of Easgate Mall. That is one project I would support with tax dollars.

Not another hotel that will become rundown in five years.

there's only one "dumpy" hotel around this intersection... The Fairfield, Marriott and Holiday Inn's are in pretty decent shape.

The Eastgate Mall has been purchased for a huge data center that will bring 1500 technical jobs to the area. FINALLY they bust a good move on that site. It needed an enoma.

The old Steak and Ale building that this new hotel will replace is old and delapidated. Problem is...Patel will just let this new hotel sink into a crackparlor/shooting gallery immediately after opening. The Marriott complex behind this lot with the Ramada and Qincy Inn should be allowed to develop that lot. They have kept up their property very well. Patel's ops are crackholes and crime beds.

There aren't any dumpy hotels there. There is a Arby's, a Shell, and a Circle K. The lot they are talking about is empty with an old Steak And Ale or Ale Emporium.. something. I lived over on the east side for 16 years and it was closed when I moved.

THere is a nice Holiday Inn and a remodeled Mariott with a new 7 story tower and large conference center there.

Who owns the Indy East. The Indianapolis Star was searched for Chan Patel and nothing was found. A quick internet search was done on Chan Patel, and a person in TX was found.

For many years I lived either in the Irvington area or around 21st and Shadeland. The empty lot is much better than a potential roach motel. Maybe in the permits build in a clause that the structure must be torn down in 20 years??

It was a Steak and Ale and they closed that one in 1998. I worked for S&A for over 10 years.

The old Steak and Ale is now a Mexican/Italian restaurant... and 6900 E 21st is West of Shadeland... wrong side of Shadeland to be at that location.

And I have seen nothing to indicate that this Patel is the same as the Indy East Patel.

Obviously the owners dont realize that the hotel will just be visited by gang members, drug dealers, and protitutes...and several police runs a week!!! They will be robbed each night at gun pointe!!! Mark my words!!!

It's on the southwest corner more or less, of Shadeland and 21st.

No, we do not need another hotel there.

The Steak and Ale is now "Papa Gallo's", and it will close soon cause nobody goes there.

There is a Chan Patel associated with Holiday Inn Express. This building site sits in a cluster of business travelers hotels and restaurants. We'll make more money off it for our tax base if its developed. The east side needs strong businesses. This is the Shadeland/70 ramp at 465. An excellent business hub. Hope Metropolitan Development didn't have to give a tax abatement. We can use the revenue. And it'll bring jobs and business to those restaurants. This is not an area of high crime at all. Shadeland's all business. Those neighborhoods are nice, middle class on the South side of 70. Go north of 70 and neighborhoods deteriorate as you approach the 38th St. corridor.
