Having lived in Indiana for 60+ years, there is still a lot of racism in Indiana. It is not so much the put-on-a-white-sheet-and-burn- a-cross variety, tho that still exists, but more people who don't really know many black or hispanic people well, and see them as "different" and not to be trusted. Those people have a lot of subconscious racism, they would deny it if asked, and probably don't realize it, but their attitudes are not much different than a Klan member's.
Me, I don't understand why skin color is different than hair color or eye color. People are people. Some are good, some are bad, most are in between.
But the hate spewed by some is why it still exists. And that crosses color lines.
You are correct. Much racism is hidden because of conditions employers place upon employees. Other racism is based on fear and differences in cultures. Having Blacks say at work that if something is not done their way they will play the race card doe's not help their cause. Now there is a theory that rasism only goes one way, because of culture, and political power. What a load of horse poop. If a different race hates a different race it is racism period.

Lol. Look, I don't want to continue this conversation. You want to pick on my typos? I've observed many grammatical errors made by you, Ralph. Those errors stem from grammatical rules which are not taught in elementary school, however. In high school, I took the SATs once as a sophomore and scored in the 98th percentile. That's top 2 percent, nationwide. You have no choice but to accept and respect it and to try to make a difference. Or, I guess you can choose to not accept and respect it based on your preconceived notions.

The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.99.

In the town the population was spread out with 25.4% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 years of age or older. Bloomingdale Indiana is a heavily Quaker town. It was a town used by the underground railroad for escapeing slaves going north during the ordeal of slavery. Other than that we are probably 100.0 percent white. I know of no blacks in town. There was one American Indian tht moved back to New Mexico, a very bright and nice lady. We enjoyed talking to her. There are blacks in the county, excluding those that are guests of the state at the correctional facility. Again I was raised, and schooled in Indianapolis, Arlington HS, and used to walk to work after school at Meadows through the Meadows apartment complex. Would'nt want to make that walk today. Anyone can write information gleaned from the internet, that never tells the entire picture.

Since there is an Indianapolis Ralph, can I be the Bloomingdale Moe, can I can I Huh! I would be the voice of conserveitive Moe.I could work for good by watching the night OWLS and exposing the demoncratic party whenever possible. Really though there is not enough difference between the Democratic party, and RepubliCAN party, the end results will end up being the same.

I have been studying them lately and I have never seen anything that suggest such.

it still is case in point my experience at a massage place in broad ripple:

I had a massage.
This was my 4th one this year by the same holistic massage therapist.
When I walked in he just looked at me kind of mean.
I was hesitant on even staying. He looked sickly like he'd lost too much weight.
But I stayed because my body has been in pain specifically my hand.
He massaged me. During the massage he made a racist comment (I"m a black female).
He told me on a documentary on people from central america and africa the people had so much energy and that I need to reach back to my genes and become alive. And I thought first of all why are you talking to me especially about race. I'm here to get a massage and relax. I was ticked off. Then later on when he was massaging my neck he blew on my face and was humming and got all up in my face. I jumped up from the table and I said I want to leave. I paid my money and a client out in the reception area white woman looked at me all hateful. I ran out.
I didn't understand why he started to act this way. Earlier this year in July I didn't show up for an appointment because I forgot. He called me on the phone and said you had an appointment and I said oh sorry I forgot. I didn't make any other appointments with this freak. This morning my back is hurting and red, my arm and hand is swollen and red. Should I sue him?

Zionsille Indiana is definitly racist. I for one walked into an establishment and over heard a conversation about black people. They did not use the word black but the "N" word. I dont even like using that word. Anyway the man that seem to have the biggest issue even hated asians. He had no Idea I was close enough to hear him talk. Anyway I wanted to know about this guy and was told he owned a body shop and a recycle business in Zionsville. I bet he is soooo nice to everyone but probably over charges those certain people. I will stay away from zionsville.

Apparently he did not see you. Gasp, not the N word! As you age, you will see many people are phoney, you know, they smile at your face. You can not judge a town by one person, not all are alike.

I immigrated to Chicago Illinois about 3 years ago from Fort Wayne, IN and talk about culture shock! Illinois has more everything. Now dont get me wrong if you want to live in a nice quiet safe little place and raise your kids in a Christian sort of way most of Indiana and alot of Illinois can provide this. But If you want diversity a better education, cutting edge change and overall better quality of life than I reccommend the western Suburbs of Chicago. Where I come from in Fort Wayne yo have blacks on one side of town and whites on the other and demographically the same dividing line seperates the more affluent from the working poor. Then on the outside you have the wealthy editions like sycamore hills and cherry hill Arlington park bitterszweet etc. And its like you can drive from one end of town to the other and cross over this magical line which some call the other side of tracks. But here in Naperville, Il you can have million dollar homes mixed up with low rent apartmenments and there are people from many differnt cltural and ethnic backgrounds Chicago as a whole is spectacularly diversified.
