I have had the pleasure on several occasions to meet marvin boatright, talk with him. From what i know of him he is a real kool guy.
I don't agree with permantly revoking his license. When a sports player screw up they are find heavily, but the still play in the game or they may sit out a few games plus a fine.
I think that he should just pay a fine if there is any proof to the allegations.
Personally speaking I think this has to do with his competitors and the corporation that bought out his parents.
He has done a lot for the community, and he does great work. There are several employees that would be displaced financially. There is a lot at stake not just for boatright but for a lot of people.
He should make monthly reports at a timely fashion and be held accountable if he should default.
It's not like he killed anyone. Everyone should be forgiven and deserves a second chance. If God is willing to forgive man when man sin against God, then man should forgive as well. I didn't say forget, but forgive(although when man ask for forgiveness from a remorseful, repentent heart God forgives them and throws there sin into the sea of forgetfulness)
I am praying for him, his loving family, his employees and the bereaved families he service.
Ken - I applaud your standing behind Marvin but you might want to step over a bit. Marvin's first impression is not how he lives and works. He knew he had a suspended license but continued to work; he knew he lost his lease and no longer had a funeral home but continued to act as though he did; he knows he has taken preneed money from families and not placed it into trust; he knows he didn't pay cemeteries after taking money from families for cemetery charges; he now knows his license has been revoked and has still continued to work as a funeral director. And Marvin also knew that his actions would ultimately cost him his livelihood and his employees their jobs. Marvin has done numerous things to cause his license to be revoked, take a moment to read the numerous litigations linked with his license and maybe you'll understand everything better. Marvin doesn't need us to hold his hand or give him pity, he needs us to pray that he will admit ALL of his wrong doing and find restitution somehow.

Wow..... I can't believe all these people are talking about you like this. They must not know you. What did you do that was so bad? So you didn't pay a bill or two, you missed a payment or two - who hasn't. I just can't imagine you as the person these comments are trying to paint you out to be. You and your dad buried my father in the early 80's and my mother in the 2001, and I was so satisfied with the funeral (and after the funeral too). You will always have a place in my heart, no matter what. You gave us some breaks and you took really good care of me too! Keep your head to the sky and stay out of Cosmos because they aren't the friends you think they are.

Sorry for the delay, been out of the US on vacation for a couple weeks.

What did he do?
He also buried his business through recklessness.

There's more. Just google it.

Bad business. Funeral home; car dealership, or whatever...
When you get greedy, you end up failing, and having a negative effect on other people's lives who were unfortunate to have crossed paths with you.

First off, you all sound very ignorant and naive...leave this mans sins in the Lords hands. I assume, all of you have nothing more to do but blog all day??? To bash a black man that was once one of the most helpful and well-respected men in Indianapolis seems bogus to me. All of us have issues and sometimes do not make the most accurate decisions with our wealth or blessings. The courts can handle a "crook", I'm sure. We all have better things to do than speak of the dead and make derogatory remarks. Take care and try to be more positive Mr/Ms PERFECT!! Oh, try to do a conclusive research attempt before you open your mouth next time!!

You just wake up from a coma “accomplished md? It only took you over four months to respond to this posting.
Yes "all of us" have sinned. But our trifling sins didn't make news like this swindler's did. If so, then we would have been laid open for all opinions on here, including yours.
I also noticed you didn’t say:“……to bash a MAN……”,
You had to insert that special little adjective that means so much to you.
Now get back on your self-prescribed "meds" and visit us again in four months or so, with your explosive bloviating on a moot subject.
Nighty-night.

I dare the families & friends that he served to step up in his defense. When we are doing good white funeral homes are the way to go. Keep that Boatwright name going. Another way for the machine to destroy a small business. Fines should be imposed before a licensed is taken. How do a licensed professional that takes a oath to serve suppose to take care of himself and his family? I hope the community rallies to help him, like he help others in their time of need. There are funeral homes ran by unlicensed owners, he only needed to hire another licensee and supervise.
Oh my, lookee what I found in the dumpster at Boatright's place!
Babies & chicken bones. A diver's feast!
Why, we should definitely "keep that 'Boatwright'(sic) name going"!
Only thing in the dumpsters at all them 'white funeral homes' is old dirty white sheets, and scorched crosses.

I did business with Marvin for years, and I can tell you one thing - he consistently skipped out on paying bills while still choosing to wear fur coats, drive expensive cars, and take expensive vacations, even when he was behind in payments by over $1000 - all of this to another small local business. The guy needs to grow up and take care of his responsibilities like an adult instead trying to run a business like a hustler.

I don't think he has to bury anyone that he doesn't want too. Maybe he takes on the business ( hope) that he gets more business from the rest of the family.
