Marvin Boatright should've been stopped a long time ago. That's really great you've been such a pillar of the community, giving financial breaks, etc., but what about the money under the table that has been taken when families came via the trustee's office? What about the fact that not only did you falsefy documents while under suspension, but you continued to defraud consumers by pretending to be something you were not - a funeral director. You have continued to operated as a funeral director since your suspension began in late October 2007; you never admitted to families you didn't have a license. In fact after a recent board meeting in August, after you were reminded you no longer had a license, you still did business as usual. And if it weren't enough that you were continuing to violate laws that govern the profession of funeral service, you involved other area funeral homes but submitting bogus obituaries to the paper in their names without their knowledge, not to mention having other funeral directors sign death certificates and contracts for you, even though you were told to STOP what you were doing. And then there is the admission that you didn't place money in a trust for a preneed, as if this is a one-time thing for you. Please? Wait until consumers realize they've been tricked, lied to and deceived. Your problems of a revoked license will seem like a walk in the park with the criminal and civil suits begin to be filed. I for one am truly relieved today justice was slightly upheld by the funeral board. Hats off to those people for not being afraid to take you on and to not be fooled by your shallow attempt at trying to make them believe that you could possibly change your ways. And know that I am not stating anything that can't be verified by looking at your business records since your suspension..... It was always business as usual as the rules didn't apply to you, in your opinion but to everyone else!

Is there a State or Federal regulation that explains who says if a body is to be or not to be creamated? Suppose my kid says no and another kid says yes? Assuming that hubby is already gone, there is no will, everybody is broke anyway, whom does does the funeral director obey?
It appears to me that a funeral director is the wrong person to be targeted because of political differences.
This is a real stinker.

Marvin L. Boatright is a crook. In March of 2008, he ordered funeral flowers for a family for which he was handling the services. He paid for the flowers with a check on a closed bank account. This was while his license was suspended. The stuff this guy has pulled is criminal. Boatright belongs in jail.
It's really too bad our prosecutor does not take white collar crime more seriously. My company quit taking checks because the prosecutor does nothing about it except for sending a threatening letter.

Marvin, I am applause and sadly disappointed about this whole situation. I had hoped that you learned a lesson from a few years ago when you got your business back then. You had it made, family owned business that your parents worked so hard for, so that you wouldn’t have to work for the white man. I pray that the Lord will use you and continue to bless you; I also pray that you will be able to beat this in your appeal. Community lets come together to support Marvin and show him that we Love him and appreciate him. Those that live in a glass house cast the first stone….

This man is a menice and a fraud. I can name 8 families that I know of that he took money from to bury at a cemetery and then never paid the cemetery, leaving the customer to pay "again" the cemetery contract. One of his customers has him in small claims court right now. If you check with all the cemeteries that he dealt with you will find all kinds of charges that Boatright agreed to pay and never did. How can someone stoop so low as to hurt people like this at the worst time in there lives. You should be ashamed Marvin Boatright!

Sounds like they have him "cold". Hope the case doesn't get "buried" in the overloaded court system. What he did is just "dead" wrong and I hope it keeps him a"wake" at night. Oh well, it's his "funeral" now. He should have "urned" the money legally...probably used the cash to pay off some "markers" he owed.

If he didn't have to bury fifty or sixty drug thugs a year, for free, maybe he wouldn't have to steal from the payin' customers.

Marvin Marvin Marvin!!! You just lost your family business. Do you understand that. Your parents worked hard for years, now you mess up like this. Thankfully, my family NEVER used you for any services. And this venture on 23rd and Meridian is not going to happen. How much money do you owe on that. I hope People's Funeral Home cuts ties with you. Even though they are bootleg too. They don't deserve to be tied to you. GO LAVENIA'S!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like Marvin Boatright was in cohoots with Debra and Robert Nelms of Forest Lawn down in Greenwood! Debra is still trying to convince people that she was never really married to Mr. Nelms. Come on people!!! She would go as far as to wear disguises at people's funerals and them stickem! Robert Nelms got electocuted during some of this scuddle. I think the rod was aimed at his wife too! Wolves in sheeps clothing! They did everything and more than Mr. Boatright. I hope someone has a miserable cell waiting for these vicious animals!
