I'll bet your internet provider is a corporation. Are you using Windows or Apple software? They are corporations. don't do business with any corporation if you are that adamant against them.

I took a look at infowars.com and have to say it is exploiting those that think there is a conspiracy around every corner of every block in every city. Such drivel and complete nonsense. If you want to believe it fine, but I don't buy any of it. By the way, you can buy advertising on the site from Google INCORPORATED.

Depends what definition of attrition you are looking at. Webster's or Lilly's.
This made me laugh... you must either work at Lilly or be one of the recently departed. I have a lot more respect for the other companies who are making their straight-forward, fact-of-life job cuts openly and honestly. No one likes to see it happen, but it's just business and the doors must stay open. Lilly uses much more personal tactics to reduce their headcount. They don't care who's lives are damaged so long as they maintain their shiny public image.
I said this the other day and I'll repeat it now; Taurel needs to go and so do his followers. If Lilly doesn't get a total leadership overhaul really soon, there will be nothing left to lead.
This whole thing is about leadership doubling down on their stupid decisions because they think they're saving face. I happen to know FOR A FACT that outsourcing does not save that company money directly and it makes everything more difficult for the remaining Lilly employees.(Yes, I'm factoring what's left of the employee benefits package into that statement) Anybody at that company with access to the data and half a brain knows that outsourcing is a bad decision. Unfortunately, anyone who dares question authority at Lilly learns first-hand what they mean by "attrition."

Lilly has been gradually downsizing/outsourcing for years. The market is tough, people want cheaper drugs, so the manufacturers will figure out how to cut costs, keep their customers, and still please the shareholders.

Hey doofus, Xigris, the drug developed to fight Sepsis is produced by Lilly thru a contractor, not directly by Lilly employees.
The calling of names seems to be your specialty, even though the premise of your very intelligent post was that I made a statement about the manufacture of Xigris.
Please post for me where in my post I said anything at all about who actually manufactured Xigris? While you are at it, point out what possible difference that would make to the person about to die from sepsis shock. Lilly also contracts with bio-tech companies that have promising compounds that require further research that eventually may be marketed under the Lilly name. So what?

I wasn't talking about Global Shares, but now that you brought it up, Global Shares didn't earn anyone money unless the stock went up, and by the same token, they didn't cost you anything if the stock price went down.

It is amazing that they can do so many renovations here, put new chairs in enclaves and pretty up their lobby yet they quietly push people out of their jobs to save money. If you want to keep a job here you have to play the game and support their outsourcing efforts. "We are doing it not with big, flashy announcements of reduction of 5,000 heads," hmmm.... they want to save face is what it comes down to. Today it is just another company that now has greed in its veins. The old vision Colonel Eli had is gone. It is very sad. I can't believe that this company never laid anyone off during the depression and now they are making the news on outsourcing their jobs. Colonel Eli cared a great deal for Indianapolis. Now they just want to give money to plaster their name so Lilly will be a name you have heard rather than a name that is a company that has high respect from the community, the government, the employees and the patients as it used to. There used to be a high regard for the company and now it is hard to come across many employees that are happy with the company they work for. They try to have open forums to talk yet those that are the ones that need to talk are too afraid to talk fearing their own jobs. You have to play the game excellent here, not just good or even great.
Wow. You people just don't understand what globalization is. This is going to happen, people! Whether you like it or not. It's time to take a big-person pill and get used to it. Companies globalze to stay competitive or those companies go away. This leaves room for other companies to globalize here in the US, which is happening. Did you really see the information age coming and not predict that this was going to be the way of the future? Stop crying in your soup and figure out how this can work FOR you, and not against you. I have never seen so much crying and whining. It is attitudes like yours that make the rest of the world laugh at us. We have lived at the top of the hog for a long time and now that is changing and you people are falling apart at the seams. Make it work for you. You whine that your job is being taken away and outsourced, but what are you doing ot make yourself more marketable? Who ever said you were going to have a gaurantee of a job? When you complain about that "America has changed" look deeply at yourselves. YOU are America. YOU have changed. You got lazy and complacent and expected to be spoon fed. This is the situation you are in right now. What are you doing to actively make this better? That's what I thought. NOTHING. SO that makes it really easy to spread your conspiracy theories and whine some more. Go get yourself another Big Mac and a six pack of beer and sob away the rest of the afternoon.

Anyone remember whether Lilly was given some large tax incentives a few years back on the promise of lots of new jobs?
They paid back those incentives in full when they change direction about a year later.

I think many people here could stand to educate themselves on this issue. "The World is Flat" is an excellent overview of the discussion.

You might not qualify for federally subsidized student loans, which is not based on a flat income rate, it's based on family size and income, but you can get student loan money at a reasonable rate.

I saw the writing on the wall when I resigned in July of 2006 to change careers to medicine. I was in R&D and they wanted me to go over to India and train people on my experiments so that they could take over my work. Instead of cutting jobs, Lilly should make cuts and improve productivity in other areas. Lilly was the most wasteful place I ever worked at. There is so much dead weight at the place, epsecially in management. I can't remember how many mandatory meetings I had to attend where absolutely nothing was accomplished. Also, ever go buy the downtown campus at night and see all the lights on when no one is there working. Talk about wasting money.

Speaking of Lilly outsourcing...how about trying to do your job...calling the helpdesk, only to find that you just submitted a trouble ticket that automatically transferred to INDIA and you're not going to get an answer until 24-48 hours later...IF AT ALL!!!!
It's ridiculous! If "metrics matter" someone needs to quantitatively track the unproductivity that occurs when employees aren't able to get access to systems or resolutions to computer problems in a timely fashion!
So true. Lilly is so inefficient it isn't funny. I experienced first-hand what you are talking about before I resigned from there in July of 2006. I'm sure you know about trying to think outside the box there, too - it is a big no,no. Once you challenge managment's position on an issue, even if done with facts and logic - you become labeled a malcontent. Lilly is a very relationship driven company. That can be good, but at Lilly it is done to a fault. Anyone who thinks differently is thought of as a troublemaker. At least that's how it was in my dept.

It is BECAUSE people buy their drugs overseas that Lilly and other pharmaceutical companies need to buy their labor overseas.
People want something for nothing and have NO idea what it takes to develop a new drug. Yes, I work at Lilly so I know.
Does anyone really think all those generic drugs your Insurance Company prescription plan requires you to take instead of Brand are manufactured here in the States?

You speak the truth. I worked there for 5 years. I remember during new employee orientation it was brought to our attention that the company had never laid a single "employee" off during its entire history. "Awesome", I thought. What I later found out - is that's a half-truth. What they fail to tell you is that since they use a bunch of contractors - they still lay people off at will, just not "employees".
